"Adult" Board?

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!

Yeah if it is put in here maybe it could be named something kinda random like a code word type of thing.

I think it's a good idea. Just ban the younger members from being let on there. Or maybe just put the bar on the handful that kept protesting right here.

I quite like this idea. Having a section where only members over a certain age is allowed, would give room for more mature discussions and adult topics.

Um... sorry, but I'm not too fond of this board :S
I don't mind the idea. I'm not sure about logistics, though. Any password would be known to everyone pretty quickly. We would have to be cool with the idea that if members who are under eighteen want to get in there, they can. And that's how I think it should be. If members who are under eighteen want to browse and post and prove that they're mature enough to participate in adult discussion, all power to them. If not and they get scarred, tough luck. MLK is not responsible because they technically weren't supposed to be in there. But I believe actually enforcing the age limit is wrong. Age often has little correlation with maturity. Under the proposed age limit, I wouldn't be allowed to discuss. Which would be a real bummer! :3
Too true, too true.

And I really don't think it'd be a good idea to chitchat about politics and religion... man, this is the stuff that divides people, divides best friends. This is a friendly forum. Of course, if it went through I would suggest adult topics, the only exception would be religion and politics. I know your all itching to share those deep beliefs (sometimes I am), but if you must I would suggest doing so in a PM...

That's just my take.

It seems to me that everyone is just afraid to stir up emotions a bit. There is nothing wrong with throwing this stuff out there, and if someone thinks that they can't debate a topic civilly then they should just refrain from commenting on the topic at all.

Yes, but these are still controversial topics, and this is a Lion King forum. And there's even a board that you can discuss religion, you'll just have to get a mod to revive it because nobody's posted in it for a while.

I just don't think it's fair, according to the age 18 limit, that only people of that age or older should get to post. Seriously, I would just not create this board. But whatever. We'll see what happens when Moka decides. He's the mind behind the matter!

So basically, I think if there is going to be a board that discusses controversial or 'mature' topics, younger users should still be able to post. Not everyone below age 18 can't handle this stuff. However, if they don't understand or can't handle certain topics set to be discussed here, I'd hope they'd take it upon themselves to leave.

When I read "politics and religion" I assumed it meant in context regard TLK. I think this would be a good idea indeed.

I have to disagree with this. Honestly, if politics and religion divides friends then they shouldn't be even called friends. I have a lot of friends with different political views and/or religious beliefs and we get along just fine (and we do discuss about such topics from time to time). If people can't handle different opinions they should just stay away from the mature board.

Personally, I think a mature board would be interesting to have, and it seems to works in other forums, so why not give it a chance? As for members under 18 viewing the board, I believe they should get the password and enter at their own risk.. If they don't want to view such debated discussions like religion or anything, they should stay away.

By the way, is it going to be a mature board just for TLK or for any topic in general? I believe it should be one for TLK and one for off-topic discussions.

Regardless. It still has a tendency to tear people apart. Even people on MLK, who are usually decent and respectful. I remember the 'Do you Believe in God?' board in SillyDog's den. I don't remember one to discuss politics and political parties. I think there perhaps should be political/religion discussion boards if it's so important to talk about, but if we do make this board I think deep discussions of those two should be excluded. of course, my opinions change constantly, so...

Basically my point is not to get too deeply involved in those topics on a public den, perhaps discuss it lightly, maybe state your polit. party or religion. There's truckloads of different topics on the internet for people to discuss those things, though.

I gotta bad feeling I just sparked a debate...
