Mheetu nodded to Marrone and nuzzled Vitani's neck, "After tomorrow, were leaving. I'm ready to go home.." he said softly to her. His green eyes watched her smile and he felt his own heart jump, she was beautiful.

Marrone nuzzled Alma's neck and smiled, "Love is always a good feeling.." he said smiling. "Lets all get some sleep, we have a long day tomorrow lets hope the skys are blue and not grey." he said to the Pride before disappearing with Alma to their den. He curled his body close to Alma's and rested his head on her back, "Tomorrow I hand the crown to Addana..." he whispered to Alma. "She will be a great Queen..shes wise.." he muttered before falling asleep.

Tempesta scooted closer to Delano in their cave and she smiled, "Its going to be a good summer.." she cooed softly in his ear. Intertwining their tails she purred softly before resting her head on his paws, "Tomorrow I climb for our love.." she said softly before closing her eyes for bed.


End of the Rainy Season


Weather: Stormy with thunder and lighting. Its been raining since the night before and the water levels have gotten closer to the dens.


Marrone awoke early and left Alma asleep in the den, he stepped out slowly and eyed how high the water grew. Worry flickered through his grey eyes and he gazed up towards the waterfall, thick fog was all around him. The ledges were hard to make out and the rain soaked his pelt as he looked hard, "Oh boy.." he muttered out loud. He knew the girls were going to have a few problems climbing up and climbing back down.

The next day, Delano woke up next to Tempesta, a pit forming in his stomach. One look outside told him that the climb to the flowers would be dangerous. He rubbed his head against Tempesta's trying not to think about her getting hurt. When she stirred, he realized that he unintentionally woke her up. "Good morning, love," he told her. "Today's the big day!" He tried to sound happy about it, but it still came out gloomy and forced.

While Tempesta was still waking up, Delano again looked outside, wishing for the weather to rapidly improve. The rain was pouring down ferociously. Tempesta sat down next to Delano, also looking outside. "It's going to be hard to climb today." He told her, dropping all pretense of happiness. He sprang at her, hugging her tightly. "Please be careful!" he told her, "It's only tradition. Don't hurt yourself over it." He breathed into her fur. "And if you fall..." He shuddered at the thought. "Be careful."

Alma pushed her self up from the ground onto her paws already from the den she could see the weather was terrible, Alma stretched and walked out of the den she looked around seeing lightning and hearing short cracks of thunder the rain rolling down her light caramel tinted fur, "I don't think we should let them climb today it is very hard to see I know its tradition but its very dangerous I don't want Addana or Tempesta getting hurt, they are essential to the pride." Alma explained, "Think about it please?" Alma said walking to the gathering den to hang out and wait for the others to wake, and join her.

"Mother, that is inexcusable," Addana snapped. "We WILL climb the mountain, we WILL marry, and we WILL do everything without you trying to selfishly interfere, danger or not."

[Songo]

Mheetu's furry ears twitched as the conversation between Alma and Addana escalated, he nudged Vitani awake. "It looks ugly outside Tani, please be careful." he warned her softly.

Marrone looked to Alma, "I know it looks bad, but we still have a few hours to see if it clears up. I'll announce when the climbing starts, it wont be for some time. We have to move others to higher dens possibly." he said to Alma and Addana. "When the Pride is safe from the water, then we can start." his grey eyes watched Alma walk into the gather den. "Addana, you do your best. If you can't get it I wont be mad." he muttered resting his paw on her shoulder. He hugged Alma tightly, "I don't want to lose you, your mother is right about it being very dangerous. But their is no time limit, watch the rocks and figure your next step, always be one step ahead. Do you hear me?" he said his grey eyes looking at her sternly. He was worried for his daughter and for the others, but he wasn't about to break tradition.

Tempesta nuzzled into Delano's mane when he hugged her and laughed, "Fall? Please Delano..we've been climbing and leaping around since we were cubs. I'll be fine. I've climbed in rain before, this isn't my first time in a storm." she whispered with a smile. She understood his worry and she had a few fears of her own and also for Vitani, "I hope Vitani can handle this...I'll keep an eye on her." she added. "Come on, lets go see the others." she said stepping out into the pouring rain. She heard the lightning crack above her and she looked at the climb, she gave a slight gulp. She followed behind Delano into the gather den and shook her pelt free of water, "The water is rising.." she spoke to Delano, "I've never seen it so high..."

Delano followed Tempesta outside, and was shocked to see the water at such a high level. "Well, when you do start climbing," he started telling her, "Know where you are going. Don't be afraid to backtrack, always see where you are going..." He knew that what he was telling he she most likely already knew, but he didn't dare remain silent. "If you step on loose rock, don't jump off! If you jump off, the rock will break and fall, sending you down with it..."

He was panicking, and Tempesta knew it. She tried to relax him with mixed success. As she nuzzled him, Delano slowly calmed down, but was unable to tame his fear. "Don't be afraid to help the others, and if you need them... don't wait until it's too late." Delano felt tears form over his eyes, blurring his vision. Wiping them off, he said, "I can fight for you, but I can't bring you back to life."

Vitani awoke when Mheetu nudged her. "It will be the easiest climb, knowing I get to go home soon after." Her eyes were still closed, as she spoke to Mheetu. She shot her eyes open, and got to her feet. After feeling the unusual damp floor. "It's wet, very wet." She scoffed, looking angrily out the door. "As soon as I get the flower, we are SO getting outta here." She laughed, nuzzling Mheetu's mane.

Alma looked at Addana, "Alright if you have faith in the climb I shall have faith in you." Alma said smiling, trying to hide the fear of her daughter getting hurt. "Just be careful." Alma stated.

Addana smirked. Climbing the mountain would be easy for her and Tempesta. After all, they had grown up around them and climbed them and even played on them as cubs. Sure, they were going a lot farther up and in the rain but she fad faith that they would make it. It was Vitani she worried about. Addana knew for a fact that prey in the Pridelands were plentiful, the ground was flat and soft, and the weather mild. There was no way that she could make it up without getting herself hurt, or worse: killed. If Vitani died while in the Nero Pride, Addana feared Simba would wage war. And though she would rather pluck out her own claws than admit it, but Vitani had kind of grown on her. Kind of.

"Father," Addana interrupted. "Mheetu and Vitani are part of the pride, but are they not welcome to leave and return to the Pridelands anytime they wish? It is not their custom to retrieve the flower, and it would be foolish to endanger the princess with nothing to gain. They can always marry there and then come back, can they not?"

Vitani smiled, "Well Mheetu, If we want to go to PrideRock today then I might a well go now!" Smiling, she reached down and nuzzled Mheetu. After starting to walk away, she turned around and licked his cheek. "I love you!" She called out before exiting the den. Spotting Marrone, Alma and Addana she smiled and walked over. "Hey! Is there anything I should know, you know, before getting the flower?" She asked, with a slightly scared face. Climbing the mountain was going to be hard. Since the rain started pouring down, the mud was going to me moist and runny.
