"King Kopa, there is trouble at the water hole!" Zazu panted, fluttering to a stop beside him. The large, majestic lion gasped.
"Impossible! No creatures dares to cause harm while I protect these lands!" His deep baritone voice rumbled. The very den walls shook of the force of his voice. He dashed outside and jumped off the rocks in one impressive bound.
"Be careful, Kopa!" He heard his family call. He smirked. He did not need to be careful for no one dared to stand up to the Lion King. He sprinted across the plains, getting to the water hole in mere seconds. A large buffalo was terrorizing a group of animals by the water.
"Stop!" Kopa roared, causing all of the animals to freeze in place and turn around to stare at him. He puffed his crimson-maned chest out. "It is I, mighty King of the Pridelands! Who dares disturb my kingdom in a time of peace?"
The buffalo snickered. Then snorted. Then outright guffawed in his face. Kopa bristled in anger. He must apprehend this criminal! No one mocks King Kopa! Before he could say a word, an earth-shattering roar made the buffalo shrink back in fear and the animals cheer.
"S-s-sire!" the buffalo stuttered, kneeling to a bow in the water. The strange lion emerged from a previous non-existent golden mist to stand before him.
"Be gone, Boma," he said evenly. In a flash, Boma had disappeared. As well as every other animal and the entire African savanna. Kopa and the mysterious lion were left standing in the middle of nowhere. Literally. Everything was just...white. Kopa trembled before him in fear. The older lion's expression remained unsettlingly blank. "They are rising."
Kopa jumped up, panting and fur raised and prickled along his body. He gasped for breath and looked around the den wildly. He began to calm down as he recognized his surroundings. "I'm alright... No King, no buffalo, no white stuff, no Mohatu," he mumbled to himself then froze. Who was Mohatu? He had never heard that name before in his life, not even in his dream. How had he somehow known the lion's name without being told it? His eyes widened. What had started out as a dream where he had proved his prowess as King had turned into something far more serious.
"Dad, Dad," he whispered, climbing over Kiara and Chaka to where Simba was He tugged on his ear and pushed on his front paws.\. "Dad, wake up. I had this weird dream. And, I think, whoever 'they' are, are rising..."
