"Who knows?" Addana muttered. "With him, it's always something."

Jafar's face took on a determined look. "I will protect you from him with everything I've got," he stated. He sighed. "I'm really sorry that the pride's fallen apart somewhat," he added.

Marrone stepped next to Alma and in front of Jafar and Addana, "Addana, I'll make sure Nyembe minds himself while the ceremony is going on." he said in a stern tone. He stepped towards the gathered Pride members and lifted his paws, "We've made it, another rainy season down. Its not as good as last years but we learned alot and survived another year. You should be proud to call yourself part of the Nero Pride, with that in mind we have two pairs for the ceremony tomorrow night. Tempesta and Delano and Princess Addana and Jafar. Addana and Jafar will also be crowned." he added with a smile looking down at them. "Its with great honor that Addana take my place, she is wise and very aware of whats going on. Jafar is a strong and will stand by her side and Protect her, they are a good match. Always have been." he said ending his announcement. He nuzzled Alma lovingly, "This season will end with alot of new beginnings.." he whispered to her.


Mheetu's ears listened to the announcement and he looked up at Jafar, "Congratulations future King." he said softly. He pulled himself to his paws slowly and looked at Vitani, "Tani, can I speak to you over here a moment?" he asked softly. He limped to the other side of the den where it was quiet and began putting some pressure on his shoulder, he could still feel the pain. His mossy green eyes looked down at Vitani, "Tanui, listen...I've been thinking..and.." his voice choked out shakily.

Tempesta nuzzled Delano's neck and she looked up at him, "I know you'll be fine." she whispered. She sat beside him and grinned wide as the King announced their ceremony, she looked at Delano. "Hopefully the rain slows down when we go up to retrieve the flower. Those rocks get very dangerous when the weather gets bad.." she added.

"Yeah." Alma said simply, "But the thing is now I feel old." Alma said before chuckling at her statement. "You were a great king, Marrone." Alma said nuzzling her mate. Alma looked at Addana and Jafar, "Hey Addana, you know I want to see grandchildren." Alma joked pointing her paw at her daughter.

Delano thought of the pain that Mheetu must have been going through. He watched as the lion limped over to Vitani. "No," Delano said decisively. "We can get the flower now. We'll simply have to be more careful when retrieving it." he said. Walking outside the den, Delano looked up, squinting as the rain his his face. He waited until Tempesta joined his side before he lead her to the rocks.

As Delano walked, he could tell that Tempesta was nervous about going to the rocks while it was still raining. "If we work together, we can get the flower." He told her. "It will take longer, but it will still take less time than if we wait for the rain to stop." What Delano didn't tell Tempesta was that he felt he owed Mheetu at least an attempt to get the flower as early as possible. But it was possible that Tempesta already guessed that.

Finally, the two of them got to the cliff edge. Delano looked around, but it was Tempesta that spotted a group of the flowers on a ledge. It was not far from where they were, but just out of reach. He would have to scale the cliff edge in order to get there. Delano cautiously tested the rocks, and sure enough, they were slippery and unstable. But he didn't want to give up just yet. "If we can find a large branch," he said, while thinking of a plan, "You can help me get down to the ledge, and I will get the flower." He told her, ignoring the fearful look she gave him.

Alma saw Delano and Tempesta going out of the den she. Saw paw prints disappearing in the dirt and saw mud on the rocks heading up the cliff edge she widened her eyes and looked up and yelled, "Tempesta!! Delano!!!! Don't be stupid come down from there it's not safe!" Alma yelled scared that the two would get hurt and she always wanted to keep Tempesta safe since her mother gave her life for The queen she always thought of Tempesta as a adoptive daughter.

Delano heard Alma run towards them and sighed, annoyed. "Alma, please," he begged her to let him try and get the flower. "We got this! There's nothing to worry about!" As he spoke, he looked over at Tempesta, hoping that she wouldn't try to bail on him. She didn't show any enthusiasm as the two of them had looked for a strong, long branch, and in the end, Delano found one.

Now, with Alma there, the chances of Delano actually trying to get the flower were small, but he didn't want to give up. He owed Mheetu that much, at the very least. To try and get the flower only.

"Delano!" Addana called, panic rising in her voice. "Be careful!"

[Songo]

Marrone stepped outside of the den and looked up at Delano and Tempesta, "Delano, get down from there! Your breaking the tradition!" he snapped. "Its Addanas and Tempesta's duty to get the flower tomorrow night. Not yours...Delano. I order you to come down from there and don't pick the flower its not fully bloomed."

Tempesta realized they were breaking the rules, "Delano this is a foolish idea. Come on. You know the flower wouldn't be fully bloomed anyway." she muttered jumping down towards the ground. She looked to Addana and Alma, "Hes sorry, he just wanted it to be easier for us.." she muttered.

Delano looked at the flower again from the cliff, fully aware of the angry glares coming from everyone else. Now was the first time he ever wanted to willingly go against the king. But won't that make him like Nyembe? Delano looked at Tempesta. She was pleading with her eyes for him to back down and walk away.

Delano felt the wind blow, and looked up at the rain. With a heavy heart, he knew what he had to do. Looming at the ground, Delano gloomily walked away. Mheetu will have to wait.
