[Closed] Trials in the Pridelands

Regina was trying to look busy so as not to enrage Zira. However, she moved too fast and tripped. She laid still for a moment, hoping Zira hadn't noticed.

[Nitro]

Kopa swished his tail back and forth before slithering across the ground, sniffing carefully. Once his scent trail was picked up, he crouched down, completely still. As fast as a daring snake, he reached out a paw and hooked a claw under the mouse's tail, dangling it in mid-air. He sighed. "Okay, dad, how do I do this?"

Simba smiled proudly. "Take in your jaws by the neck and bite down as hard as you can," he instructed.

[Nitro]

Kopa did as told, and winced as a large crunch echoed throughout his mind. Warm blood seeped into his mouth and he gagged, repulsed at the idea that he had taken a life. He swallowed it in one go, scowling as he did. His ears drooped. How will I ever be a good king if I can't even eat without feeling sick?

"Get up, 'Gina," Zira growled, "We don't have all day,"

Kovu pounced for the bird. "I'll get it! I will!" He fell a couple inches short of the branch the kingfishers rested on. Luckily, it didn't notice. He stayed as low as possible...

Regina rose to her feet and growled. "Zira, why do you train us like this?" she asked.

[changa]

"To defeat Simba, we need immense forces. Hard-hearted. We must be trained so hard it hurts. The harder you are trained, the easier it will be to defeat him. It is as simple as that." She said matter-of-factly.

Regina sighed deeply. "Just who is this Simba and why do you want him defeated? Did he wrong you in some way?" she continued. She was exhausted and would give anything for this to stop.

"Wrong me? Wrong me? You bet he wronged me! His father banished me and my dear mate, and Simba himself killed Scar! All of it is his fault! And we must get revenge!" Zira roared.

Regina wanted to speak further, but said nothing. She could tell Zira was exceedingly vicious and would probably kill her if she didn't stop talking. She simply returned to her training.
