how about they were both giving birth around the same time. Zira's died. So she switched it with Vitani. So Mufasa & Sarabi thought she was dead. They'd also be over protective of Simba, their only child.

Near the end of the rpg, maybe recreate the scene with Scar about to kill Simba and whisperes into his ear.

Scar: Oh there is something I wanted to tell you. (whispers): Vitani is your sister. And she doesn't even know it. She's helping destroy her own family.

And that would snap something in Simba. He and Vitani weren't always close and maybe saw the way they treat her a few times, and felt guilty for not doing anything. He would escape Scar, then trick him into being a genie.

The trick would be Simba escaping Scar's coils (Scar is in snake form during that bit).

Ooh better idea. He whispers to Simba about Vitani being his sister before whisking him off to the ends of the earth. Of course Simba would have carpet and come back.

Well, it makes no sense for Scar to zap Simba into beggar's rags, since everyone knows he's a prince.
