Although he hated giving Kovu up, Mufasa knew that it was necessary to keep Kovu on a good path. Being brother to the next Sultan and son of the current one meant that he would have all the rights Simba had, and it could prove too tempting to resist nicking a valuable pocketwatch belonging to a noble or that shiny golden lamp in the hallway.

"Yes, Father, your words are clear," Simba said. He looked at Kovu. "Promise me you won't steal anything in Fayiz," he stated.

"Please, Kovu," Mufasa begged. "I do not want the wrath of Sultana Sarafina upon our kingdom, nor do I want any harm to befall you"

Razouls gulped. He had never seen he Sutan this Angrey before. " It shall be done." The captain of the guard said. He then left the room to carry out the order.

Kovu looked at Simba and Mufasa. " I promise." He said in a shaking voice. The last thing he wanted was to be adopted by Scar and Zira. He'd sooner go back to being a street Rat. Kovu continued to hold onto Simba. "I don't wanna be Vitani's brother, I wanna be your's." He said to Simba. Vitani was OK, but he liked Simba Better, after all, he'd still be a street Rat without his help. He looked at Mufasa, with an almost pleading look in his eyes. "Please don't give me to Scar and Zira. They scare me." He pleaded with the Sultan as he ran into Mufasa's arms. " I'll do anything. He sobbed, burring his head into Mufasa's chest.

Simba looked at Kovu and then at his father. "I promise, Father. I will keep him from stealing anything. I'll even get Eden to watch him while I'm courting Nala," he said.

"I'll watch out for him too. Is it okay for Kovu and I to join Simba and Eden in the treasury?" said Vitani.

Zira wondered if her daughter was playing the part or really did care for Kovu. Even if they adopted him, she knew he would still be loyal to Simba, Mufasa, and Sarabi. She turned to Scar with a worried look on her face. Anyone else would assume she was upset over the murders or worried over Kovu, but Scar would know better.

"What are we going to do? He's bound to steal something. Would adding him to our family be wise?" she whispered to him.

Meanwhile in the kingdom of Faiyz, Sarafina nodded.

"I know he is. Mufasa and Sarabi told me all about him in these letters. At least consider it Nala." said Sarafina.

Nala turned to Kas'im.

"Thank you. I'll try." said Nala.

She turned back to her mother.

"I'll consider it but I don't think I'll change my mind." said Nala.

"Then let's start eating. I'm famished." said Queen Sarafina.

The mother and daughter sat down to the banquet. Sarafina motioned for Kas'im and Selim to join them as they began to eat.

Scar looked into his wife's eyes. "Yes, I think it is worth it. We may be able to use his skills for our purposes," he whispered. He then turned to Mufasa. "Brother, it's obvious that Kovu is sorry for his misdeeds. I think you should go ahead and take him as your second son," he said, plotting in his mind to take Kovu as his son once Mufasa was out of the way.

Mufasa sighed. "Maybe you are right Brother, but now is not the time. Simba must leave for Fayiz come dawn, and he only has a few hours to find a suitable gift for Princess Nala. Go now Simba, and Eden and Vitani shall go with you."

Simba bowed. "Yes, Father. I shall get Eden and Vitani and go to the treasure chamber now," he said. He then took off, joining Eden in the hallway. "Well, Eden, it's time for me to go and find a gift for Princess Nala," he said. He then went and got Vitani. "I'm going to the treasure chamber to find a gift for the Princess," he told his cousin.
