[Songo]

A smiled spread across Songo's delicate features as she saw Sius, she stepped up to the group. How are you doing Sius? Hows the savannah treating you?" she asked curiously. "Sure I'll join you Mwunga." Songo chimed in and stretched her paws forward a bit. Her crystal blue eyes flickered as she stared off at the horizon in the direction of the moving Gazelles, her tail swaying behind her in the soft breeze.

Hero's eyebrow raised as Sius found himself back to the group and he nodded a hello, still waking himself up the lion let out another yawn. Grumbling he pulled himself up to his massive paws and stepped on the other side of the rock pile, below Mwunga. His dark eyes watched the gazelles and he nodded up to her, "Breakfast is calling me, so how about we grab two?" he said with a smile. Hero inhaled some fresh crisp air and then he saw Frost laying in the distance, "We better get two, just incase hes hungry." he said motioning to Frost with his muzzle.

Songo turned to see Frost sitting on a dead tree and she squinted her eyes to see if he was moving. "Well...I mean hes there. Theres no telling if he'll be there when we get back. But two wouldn't hurt I guess." she said softly adding her thoughts. She stood beside Mhuni and smiled, "My sleep was wonderful, of course between Hero's snoring I had a some trouble falling back asleep." she whispered softly with a chuckle.

Sius looked at the dead and stripped carcass and chuckled. "Not sure if I can scavenge anything off of that." Sius was known around the savanna for being a joker, but when things got serious, Sius did too. However, he was never one to fight for himself. For his friends, he would dive into the fray to save them. But when there was no one to save, he would rather get outta danger right away.

The group suggested continuing the hunt and catching two prey this time. And on Sius' behalf. Sius had often known Mwunga to insist that females should hunt while males should do all the fighting. But Sius was a guest and decided that it was only fair for him to catch his own food. After all, he had his own special trick for catching prey. An ace up his sleeve to gain him the advantage. He would simply toss a small rock on the other side of the herd of prey. Then they would become frightened of that direction... usually... and flee in the other direction. Thus giving Sius the opportunity to catch them in the crossfire. It only failed when Sius tripped up, which did happen a few times, and when the prey would flee in another direction.

Sius walked along with the group in search of more food. He walked over to songo and said "Well you know how the savanna is: it picks its favorites. Me, I'm just happy to have lived this long." Sius was definitely the oldest lion of the bunch here. He was twelve years old, versus some of the teen lions in the group. But there was no shame in death anyways. The circle of life would continue even without this old rusty lion. He trotted up to Mwunga and smiled. "So Mwunga" he started with a serious tone, not like his overused joker tone. "How have things been going? I've been away for a few months, has anything... ya know... happened?"

Mwunga

"Yes, two should be enough." Mwunga nodded in agreement, then skittered of the stones. Her paws thumped the ground softly, feeling the cool grass underneath.
Sius's voice made her look around. "Oh, nothing much really. Just normal stuff, I guess." She replied. "Now, if you don't mind, I must fetch some food." She glanced back at Sius, smiling to show she wasn't trying to deliberatly get away from him, then at Mhuni and Songo, and began trotting away towards the gazelles. She kept close to the tree line, letting the shade hide her for the moment. Mwunga could hear the other two lionesses behind her, making little noise like herself. Her tail danced back and forth, ready for the excitement of the hunt. Her ears were pricked and listening intently.
"That one..." Mwunga raised a paw and pointed at a scruffy-looking gazelle near the middle. Though not close to the huntresses, it seemed the oldest. Mwunga looked back at her companions, then beyond to the lions near the stone pile. She caught sight of a lone lion in the distance, and thought he looked like Frost. Shaking her head, she returned her gaze to the herd, looking for the next quarry.

Shomari

The pale grey lion pulled his tail from a thornbush, fuming. He had already managed to get caught in two others, as if he was only a tiny cub. At least no one was watching. Shomari sat down on his haunches, letting his anger die down. The sunlight dappled the ground around him, making pretty patterns. Shomari scuffled his paws in the dirt, watching it poof up in clouds. He began to relax at last.
A pair of birds fluttered above the teenage lion, chirping and swirling happily. Shomari raised his head, eyes tracking the movements of the birds. He yawned, swiping his tongue around his teeth, and lowered his body. He curled his paws neatly underneath himself, wrapping his tail around his side as well. Only his ears were not relaxed, they were straight up to listen for any approaching creatures.

[Songo]

Songo looked to Hero and nodded, she followed quietly behind Mwunga. She smiled slightly as she felt the soft blades of grass tickle her belly when she lowered closer to the ground, her eyes caught sight of the scruffy gazelle. With the tree's shade giving her cover she laid lower to the grass as Mwunga picked their next target. Her claws cut into the soft ground and she felt the earth between her paws, it relaxed her before the chase. Her tail flickered by her side and she looked back to Mwunga all the exchanges the lionesses made in complete silence.

Hero wasn't sure if he should stay behind or follow the lionesses so he reclined back to his hinds and waited. He looked over at Sius, "So discover anything new as you wander around?" he asked curiously raising a eyebrow. His dark eyes followed his sister and Mwunga but he lost them for a minute in the tree's shadows, he nodded at the fact her hunting skills had improved greatly.

"No, not really." Sius replied to his old friend Hero. Through Sius' recent journey, he had gone his normal route. First he stopped by his first den where he and Hisani lived for a year or two. It was a good home, but Sius could never stay in the same place for very long. He decided to move on with Hisani and find a new home. He would then pass through the Pride Lands, maybe visit Pride Rock and all the friends he knew there. Then he would visit the second den where he had lived. But he would only ever stay there for a day because that was where Hisani had died.

He would stay for a day and mourn his loss, but if Hisani was still alive, she would want him to not be sad. So he would move on after that. From there, it was usually a guess on where he was going. He never went the same way twice from there. Because of that, he knew quite a few creatures of the land and quite a few places. Some of them friendly, most of them hostile, but he would always look forward to stopping here for a spell.

He continued forward with the group until they spotted a herd of gazelle. Sius wasn't sure what the plan was, as Mwunga was probably planning on doing this without his help, but he figured he could help out as much as needed. After all, any lion could hunt, male or female. Sius crouched down, so not to be heard, and crossed through some thick grass. He knew that there was much risk in approaching Mwunga to ask which they were going for, especially with Sius' huge paws. Stealth wasn't his forte, so he would simply go for another one in the chaos. He started sneaking around to the other side of the gazelle to box them in and prepared for the stampede to begin.

It was impossible to mistake the dispersion of lionesses for anything else: they were hunting. Frost was certain of this within seconds, but to be doubly certain he glanced back at the males of the group. They were staying put and standing guard; it seemed the gender roles were still well-respected--at least in their society. Frost, however, didn't care about social norms.

With that in mind, he simply vanished from the tree. Within a few moments, he had successfully made his way to the far side of the herd, and although his fur pattern didn't allow for him to hide very well, he could be quiet and very subtle when he wanted to be. For that reason, he was able to approach the herd--he may well have been able to pick one gazelle off before anyone noticed if he wanted to, but he didn't. He simply stayed as he was, and glanced to the side. Sius was approaching; perhaps the other male could see him. Frost's plan was to simply show himself, as big and loud and threatening as possible. Chaos would ensue in the herd, and it would be easy for the hunters to take down however many specimens they wanted. Still, it would be best to wait and see what everyone else was up to. When the action started, Frost would do something, no matter what.

Mwunga

Mwunga stayed quiet, ready for the pounce. She could sense her companions excitement, and had to keep her own tail still. Then she raced from the shade, directly towards the herd. The gazelles fled, calling wildly. Mwunga heard a roar across the herd, and glimpsed Sius thundering through the terrified deer. She didn't have time to be exasperated, as she knocked a gazelle down. Before it could jump up again, she grabbed her paws around its body and bent to clasp its neck in her jaws. She could feel the life force pounding frantically through the gazelle's neck, blood rushing from the punctures. After a few moments, her breathing slowed again, and she lifted her head from the gazelle's body. Mwunga swiped her tongue around her jaws, tasting the blood. She looked around for the others, hoping for some more food.
The rest of the deer had stampeded even furthur away, probably fearing for another attack. A slight breeze blew across the plains, and Mwunga sighed with contentment. The sun had risen fully, and the sky was a cheerful blue. Clouds drifted in the distance, pulled by the gusts. Mwunga gripped the gazelle by the head, and began dragging it back to the rock pile. She could see Hero waiting nearby it. Mwunga spotted Songo and Mhuni each carrying a gazelle, and her heart rose. Definitely good eating today. She didn't spot Sius, but he had probably been behind her and Mwunga didn't have the energy to turn around. She padded onwards, tail raised.

[Songo]

Songo bounded out from the shadows of the trees and she roared herself as she went towards the herd of gazelle. Her eyes watched the gazelles flee and a smirk shot across her muzzle as she ran after the kill she picked out. Taking a leap forward her claws latched into the back on the gazelle pulling it down with all her might. Her fangs flashed quickly as she sunk them deep into the gazelle's neck and clenched her jowls tight.

Feeling the pulse of the gazelle slow to a stop Songo let the gazelle's head fall to the ground. Her blue eyes gazed around and she spotted Mwunga and Mhuni get kills of their own. She let out a exhausted sigh and dragged the kill over to Hero. She dropped it by his paws, "Breakfast served." she said with a smile.

Hero bent down and ripped into the fresh gazelle and he devoured a few chunks of the meat. His pink tongue licking the blood off his muzzle. "Fresh is the best, thanks sis. Your hunting is improving." he added taking another few bites getting his fill. He pushed the gazelle towards Songo with his head and laid to his stomach lazily feeling full.

"Really you think? Good!" she said with a smile before sinking her teeth into the gazelle's hind. She enjoyed the fresh meat and continued to eat.

Chaos! The gazelle stomped around after being startled by the assault of the lions. Sius hadn't yet reached a safe position and so was in the path of the gazelle. He quickly leaped out of the way and rolled into some smaller grass. His eyes wide with astonishment as the herd galloped away from the carnivores. Sius let out a sigh of relief seeing as the trampled ground could have easily been him. He wasn't as lively and quick as he once had been and was lucky to have gotten out of the way in time.

In fact, he hadn't realized how dangerous it had been to do what he had tried. Hisani often told him that "he was only one lion" and not to do "anything out of his league". But when did he ever listen to her? He was still as risky and spirited as he was as a cub. And that wasn't likely to change. After rekindling his mind, Sius rose to his feet and brushed off some dirt from his pelt. He couldn't help but think that there was more company around than just the others of the pride, but who... he did not know.

Best not to be concerned with something that was most likely nothing. Sius headed back to the group who had caught two gazelle. It would appear that Sius wasn't needed for the hunt after all. He shrugged off his negative thoughts and continued to the group. "Well, that was refreshing." Sius said with his usual sarcastic tone. Obviously slightly aggravated that the group didn't wait for him to get into a safe position, but he was never one to openly complain about anything. He looked at the already decimated gazelle corpse and nothing more. Sius wasn't usually one to eat food that he didn't catch himself. It was how he was raised, to eat the food he earned himself. Though he knew that the others would insist that he eat.

In an attempt to avoid that kind gesture, Sius sat on his haunches and tried to strike up a conversation. "So how have things been you guys? Anything new to report?" His attempts at conversation were obviously distracted, but who could blame one who had been a rogue all his long life? He stared into the horizon as he sometimes did when he was trying to avoid eye contact. It was always awkward for him returning after being gone for so long.

Mwunga

Mwunga set her catch down near the others, then settled herself down on the grass. She raised her head at Sius's question. "We've been fine, really." She answered, not eating yet. "I've had no trouble, unless you count the little cub." She nodded in the direction Shomari had disappeared. "Do you want to eat?" Mwunga knew Sius had been avoiding this, and she felt a bit sorry that she hadn't let him prepare to catch his own. She gently nudged the untouched carcass towards him, a sheepish smile on her muzzle.

Shomari

Shomari decided to go back to the others, and he stood up. His ears were still pricked, for he rarely put his guard down. Shomari turned around and padded silently back to the rock pile. He could hear the lions chattering, and for a moment he wished to go straight back. Hoping to come unnoticed, Shomari slipped through the trees. He halted by the stone pile, watching the others. He raised a paw, and licked it, then scooted towards a thick tree. He lay down beside it, ignoring the delicious smell of gazelle.
