Time: around 5:30 in morning
Weather: around 60 degrees Fahrenheit, mostly clear sky with few clouds to east, no wind

Mwunga

Mwunga's pale pelt rose and fell as the sleeping lioness breathed. Her body was curled around a smaller lion, pale gray brown in color, whose breath stirred the leaves of a bush in front of him. The two were slumbering in a sheltered place, hidden in the savannah. It was comprised of a few trees surrounding a slight dip in the ground, with numerous bushes scattered nearby. As the sun had not yet risen, the land was swathed in darkness, though the faint light on the horizen made things a bit more visible. The air was still, and the whole area seemed lifeless besides the herd animals, though they were still and slow.
Until now. Mwunga's eyes blinked open, already adjusted to the light, and scanned the roughly sheltered alcove without raising her head. She then flicked her tail, and lifted her finely built head. Her fur brushed the lion beside her, and she glanced down. Shomari usually awakes long before me, Mwunga thought, surprised. Then again, he had seemed rather down last evening. Mwunga stood up, stretching first in a bow then each of her hind legs. Feeling refreshed, the lioness peered around the dim savannah.
Herds of wildebeast and zebra moved slowly in the distance, and a trio of giraffes grazed nearby. Mwunga spotted a jackal slinking through the tall grass, and a shrew was snuffling under a bush a few paces away. The area seemed much more full of life now, and the sun was beginning to peek over in the distance.
Mwunga lifted her tail, feeling elated at the start of a new day. These simple things always cheered her, made life better. Rustlings behind her made Mwunga turn. Shomari had awoken, he gazed silently at the grass beyond Mwunga.
"Good morning, Shomari!" Mwunga purred cheerfully, turning to her companion. Shomari's eyebrows raised slightly at her loud greeting. Mwunga chuckled, tail waving gaily, and padded over to sit beside him.
"Sleep well?" She asked, "You seemed depressed last night."
"I'm fine." The small lion replied, his tone indifferent and quiet like usual. Mwunga sighed, wondering if he would ever sho his emotions.
"Come on, lets go find breakfast." Mwunga jumped up, and walked energetically out of the dip, ears perked. Shomari, twitching his tail, followed.

Shomari

Shomari's paws made no sound as he followed the slim tan lioness. The tall grass brushed his pelt, and shrews and mice scampered away as the lions passed. Shomari had half a mind to snatch one up, but resisted the urge. By now, the sun was almost all visible, and the birds had begun morning calls.
"You coming?" Mwunga's voice carried from the small hill she stood upon. Shomari shook his head, realizing how behind he was, and speeded up. He reached the crest, halting beside Mwunga. Herds of hoofed animals spread over the savannah, waking and starting daily activites.
"Gazelle?" Mwunga was staring at a nearby group of Thompson's Gazelles, who were munching on grass and bushes.
"Alright, easy and small." Shomari nodded, a faint smile painting over his lips. Mwunga laughed and the two crept down the hill, back behind some large stones. Shomari peered out at the small deer, instantly spotting the weakest. It was a typical case, just a weak elderly female. She was nearest the rocks too. It all seemed so easy.
Shomari nudged Mwunga and pointed at the gazelle. The lioness nodded, and slipped around the other side of the rocks. Shomari stayed hidden, waiting for Mwunga's call. Unlike normal, Shomari insisted upon hunting with Mwunga, as she had no pride lionesses to help her. Shomari knew Mwunga secretly enjoyed hunting with him, though she always said: "Females should hunt, males should fight."
Mwunga's roar sounded, and Shomari sprang from his hiding spot. The herd of gazelle had bolted, screaming wildly. The poor weak female was no match for two fit lions, and crumpled under Mwunga's paws. Shomari swerved a fleeing gazelle and halted beside Mwunga, clamping his jaws around the elderly deer's neck before Mwunga had even lowered her head.
After a few moments he let go, and the gazelle was dead.
"Yum, let's take this over there." Mwunga licked her lips and began to drag the body over to the rocks. Shomari helped, and between the two of them it was easy to get the gazelle over to the shade.
They set it down, and Mwunga smiled at Shomari. She then bent down to eat, tearing into the kill hungrily. Shomari settled down, and started to rip at the gazelle gently.

Mhuni woke, yawning and stretching. As her brain adjusted to the sunlight and new smells, she smelled the delicious smell of gazelle. She got up slowly, and followed the scent to Mwunga and Shomari, who were eating. "Willing to share? Or do I need to get my own?" she inquired.

"Hero...Hero..." her voice was soft as silk and slipped into one ear and out the other, leaving him undisturbed as he slept. Her crystal blue eyes narrowed slightly as she crept up behind her big brother. His snoring becoming louder and intolerable to her small ears, they flattened back to her cranium tightly. "HERO." she snapped louder now her paws shaking his body frantically.

His face was hidden in his paws as he slept and he felt Songo shake his body, smirking slightly he rolled his massive body over. Clunk! He let himself play sleeping as he trapped Songo's paws and tail under his body. He ebony chest fur faced the ceiling and he sprawled out a soft smile displayed across his muzzle. -This will show her...- he thought to himself.

"He..Herooo!" she whined trying to pull herself out from his body. "Oh Yeah! I know your awake, I can see your stupid smile. Get off me, your just fat." she snapped annoyed. She laid to her stomach her paws going numb from under Hero, she pushed him with her head. "Move...your crushing me." she stated her crystal blue eyes looking over to him.

"Am not.." he said softly rolling back over. He kept her tail under his body and chuckled softly hiding his face back in his paws. "Go away, I'm sleeping." he ordered sluggishly.

Songo growled softly and attempted to pull her tail out, "My tail.." she muttered with a frown. Letting out a heavy sigh she stared at Hero's leg. A idea swirled through her mind and she looked over at him, still hiding eh.. she thought to herself. She displayed her fangs and bit into his leg, and let go as he sprung into the air. She rubbed the tuft of her tail, "Told you to move.." she said with a smirk.

As the pain jolted from his leg to his mind, he sprang into the air limping around the den. "Your so annoying and I'm not fat. I'm just bigger then you.." he retorted with a huff. His dark eyes stared at Songo and he rolled them giving in, "Fine lets go.." he said grumbling as they walked out of the den.

Songo smirked victoriously and padded in front of him, "Lets see what the others are doing.." she said softly. Her crystal blue eyes watched the orange and red flash through the sky as the sun began to rise, it was beautiful. She made her way down a few ledges feeling Hero right behind her, she found Shomari and Mwuanga eating their breakfast. "Morning." she said reclining back to her hinds.

Hero nodded to them both still trying to adjust to the sunlight he reclined back near Songo, a yawn escaping his muzzle. "This is what we woke up for...?" he grunted.

"Of course Hero, its breakfast time!" Songo said with a grin.

Shomari

The pale lion glanced around at Mhuni, his faint smile vanishing instantly at the appearance of others. Mwunga, on the other hand, looked up cheerily and grinned at Mhuni and the approaching Hero and Songo.
"There should be enough, we can catch some more later if needed." The tan lioness meowed, gesturing politely at the gazelle. "And good morning to you both." She added to Hero and Songo.
Shomari just nodded stiffly. He was still quite young, and rather uncomfortable around the older lions. As he and Mwunga moved away so the other three could eat, Shomari sighed. Being blessed with intelligence, he was a bit bored. He lay his head on his light paws, leaning slightly on a tree. Mwunga was washing her hind legs peacefully behind him.

"Thank you. And I'll do the hunting if we need more," Mhuni said, and bit into the gazelle. "So, Hero, Songo, how did you sleep?" She asked curiously. She nodded, and resumed eating. "What about you two? Sleep good?" She directed the question at Mwunga and Shomari.

Rising over the horizon, A full grown lion made his way down the rolling plains of the savanna. His long crimson mane blew in the slight wind this morning. He had slept well the past few nights and was well rested for anything today had in store for him. As his deep red eyes scanned the grasslands, he spotted a familiar group. Sius knew many in the African savanna, and the few that he didn't know, he had no pleasure of knowing. But these lions were all friends of his at one point or another. He made his way down to the group of lions happily feasting on the breakfast laid out before them. Shomari, Mwunga, Hero, Songo, and Mhuni all present and accounted for.

Sius strode up and greeted the group accordingly. "Hey guys! Long time no see!" The kill smelled fresh, so he could only assume that it had been gotten this morning. Sius shied away from it however for the chance to catch up with his old friends. "Hey Mwunga" Sius said cupping his paw to his mouth but speaking loudly enough for Shomari to hear. "That Shomari of yours still givin' ya trouble?" He then shot a smirk of playfulness to Shomari to assure him he was just kidding.

Though Sius was the eldest lion there, he still had the heart of a cub. He never really stayed with any other pride. He never really belonged to anyone besides himself. After his mate Hisani died, he preferred to stay in wandering solitude for the remainder of his years. However, having friends to visit was always a welcome addition to his loneliness. After all, he hadn't seen any of these characters in months. The least he could do was show some hospitality.

Mwunga

"Yes I slept great." Mwunga yawned pointedly, teeth glinting in the light of the rising sun. She glanced up at the approaching Sius. Mwunga chuckled, glad to see Sius again. "Oh yes, he's terrible." She joked, flipping her tail around. Shomari rolled his eyes at the two older lions, and slipped past Mwunga into the bushes. "Rude little cub." She muttered to herself, watching his gray-brown tail disappear into the foilage. "Food, Sius?" Mwunga nodded towards the gazelle, though now it was nearly stripped clean. "Hmm. We may need to catch another..." She glanced at where the rest of the Thompson's Gazelles had fled too, farther west.
"Anyone up for a little hunt?" Mwunga stood, and jumped gracefully on the rock pile. She could see the gazelles grazing peacefully, unaware of the new danger to come. The sun was fully into the sky, casing glorious colors on the few clouds. The day was promising to be good.

"Sure! Why not? Let's go." Mhuni crawled next to the rock pile and watched the gazelles. They were not really in a herd, they were scattered about. "Which one are we going for?" she whispered.

Frost was in the area, but that in itself meant almost nothing. He came and left as he pleased, often without a word or any other signal to let anyone know where he was, or if he was even still alive. On several occasions he had accidentally (or otherwise?) vanished for so long that people simply assumed that he'd died--but he'd always turned up whenever he was truly needed. On the most recent of these occasions, he'd gone unseen for at least two weeks and only appeared again when a hunt threatened to go from bad to worse to simply dangerous.

For now, though, it seemed that he had no reason to do anything other than what he was currently doing. And so he didn't get up to greet the other lions; they were at least five hundred yards off regardless. He simply stayed where he was: safe off the ground in a half-dead, bent-over tree. He rested with his forepaws neatly folded in front of him and simply watched them, the herds, and whatever else caught his interest. He barely moved; not even his tail twitched in the lively, interested manner that other lions' seemed to. Every now and then he would blink and turn his head, but none of his few actions suggested a clear line of thought at all. It couldn't even honestly be said that Frost was resting, as his muscles were taught and his head was upright, so what on Earth could he be doing?
