I don't count Kopa as canon. I don't believe he could ever be canon in any way. I just LIKE DISCUSSING ABOUT THE CHARACTER. JESUS CHRIST. People are free to believe what they want and you can't change that.

And to answer your question: People know Kopa is not really canon, but they make their OWN canon universe in their minds and put other official characters or their own character in their own theories and stories. It's canon to them, but not the Disney canon.
