It was almost night. Vitani stood there, looking at the night sky. She was so excited, her cub was due anytime now. As she standed there, she felt kicks from her stomach. She wondered if it was a headstrong female of a feisty male. Anyway, she'd love it. So, she went into priderock to sleep. And when she went in there, her mate, Kopa was there. Wehn Kopa came back 6 months ago, Vitani was happy to see him, and Kopa was happy to see Vitani. And next to Kopa, was Kiara, who was also expecting a cub, but instead of one, Rafiki suspected two cubs. Soon, they went to sleep.

Soon, Vitani woke up to sudden kicking. Kopa....Kopa, wake up. What, what's going on, who died? Know one died honey, but I think the cub's coming Then go wake up my mother So, Vitani got up, was it was fast kicking. She was in pain Grrrrrrr. Soon, Vitani put her paw on Nala. Nala....Nala...Wake up.

Nala was dreaming. It was actually one of her sweetest dreams she'd ever had. It was about her and Simba. They were cubs again and playing in the Pridelands. They were jumping on each other and Nala pinned him yet again. Nala gave a smile without even knowing it. "Nala, you're my very best friend..." Simba said and pushed Nala off him. She giggled. "You're my best friend too Simba." Nala smiled yet again. She could dream like this forever. But a voice interrupted her dream. A voice which wasn't even a part of the dream. It came from the real world. In a way, Nala didn't really want to wake up and enter the real world again. She knew it was dark and cold. Like most mornings before the sun got up. But this morning it was very cold. It didn't even feel like it was morning. Just then, Nala knew. It wasn't morning. Someone was waking her up in the middle of the night. She gave a big yawn before opening her droopy eyes. "Wha... What is it? Vitani? Is that you? What are you doing awake at this time of the night?"

Nala, I'm going... ROAR! I'm sorry, I'm going to have my cub. Vitani roared in pain. Nala, you've....grrrr....you've had cubs before, you'd....you'd know what to do. Nala stared in the lionesess eyes. Then, another kick came from Vitani's stomach, it felt like elephants stomping on Vitani. Help me, I'll hunt more, even though I have cubs, just help me! At this moment, Vitani thought of names, but somehow, she thought her or the cub would die. She didn't want that to happen But since there was so much pain, that Vitani collapsed.

It's coming! I just hope it's not two! Of course not Vitani, Rafiki said it only be one. Well, what if it's twins? Then, I'll beat Rafiki up! It made Vitani laugh, but soon, another roar. Mother! Help her! Kopa looked in his mother's eyes. Before he talked, he calmed down his voice. Mother, do you want your first grandcub to die? Then, help her.

Nala nodded and got up from where she had been sleeping next to Simba. She walked over to Vitani. She saw that Vitani was already bleeding, and that her belly bump had gone downward. "Ok Vitani, breathe. Relax. Everything is gonna be just fine. Breathe in and out. Make your heart go back to a normal beat. It's ok, everything is gonna be ok." Nala remained calm while observing Vitani's labor. To support Vitani, she easily breathed in and out. "There, there. It's gonna be fine." Nala was still calm, but she had reacted to Kopa's words. She kept hearing Mother, do you want your first grandcub to die? in her head. She shook her head without Kopa or Vitani noticing. She got back to observing the labor, but could still hear the words in the corner of her head

Somehow, Kopa knew he upseted his mother. Mother, are you alright? Kopa knew his mother was worried. Maybe she knew that the cub was going to die. Mother, try, Don't let it die. Kopa got worried. Whatelse should I do? His mother didn't answer. Kopa......just don't talk. Okay honey. What Nala told Vitani to do, she did. Soon, the cub was almost in the world.What do I do now? Vitani's belly was still big for some reason.Nala? Why is my belly bump still big? Umm, Vitani, I think you're going to have two cubs.

What! Nala? Is that true? Then, Vitani looked at her belly bump. Nala, I think the cubs goign to enter the world. What will I do now? Then, Vitani felt another burst of pain. What do I do?!

Nala's eyes were full of excitement, fear and hope. She was too busy to answer anyone, and too busy to answer Kopa. "Ok... Now, uhh... Take a big breath, and push as hard as you can. And the cub should be out in no time." Nala smiled and encouraged Vitani. She knew it couldn't be easy for her. Vitani had never had cubs before, she didn't know what to expect. One thing she didn't expect were two cubs, and Nala was afraid the shock would be too much for Vitani. But Nala trusted in her, and that the strong Vitani, who once spent her life in the Outlands, would be able to take the shock.
