A few seasons had flown by and Pride rock seemed to stand tall; every day the sun crept over the horizon, Mufasa and Sarabi ruled the pride. But as Nala and Simba became of age, they started to learn more royal duties. They even filled in for the King and Queen to give them a little vacation, the pride lands seemed quiet. No Other disturbances bothered the lions; there was also no sign of the defeated Zira.
The animals around the Pride lands constantly buzzed about Simba and Nala, when was a cub going to be born. When will the future Prince or Princess be brought into the world, only time could tell. Vitani was looking for a new suitor and Mheetu was growing a small mane. The once young cubs all seemed to grow quickly and follow their own stars.
---~---
Spring had just started and Nala slowly opened her blue eyes as the rays filled her den, she nuzzled Simba’s fuzzy red mane. “Time to get up..There is work to be done. Plus today we tell the Pride, our plan.” she whispered into his ear. Nala smiled and quietly crept out of the den, she made her way towards the top of Pride rock to watch the sunrise with her mother and father. She knew they were there, they were always there. Nala slowly padded and sat down beside her mother, the young lioness seemed to be glowing today. “Simba and I want to tell the Pride some good news. When we gather the rest of the sleeping lionesses we will inform everyone.” she said with a grin.
Sarafina smirked and nudged Shujaa, Nala had grown up so fast she couldn’t believe she was almost queen. “What is it dear?” Sarafina asked curiously. Her green eyes looked to Shujaa and she smiled slightly, before turning back to Nala. “Mheetu is down by the watering hole, do grab him. He never wants to sleep in the den. He’s such a wanderer, like his father.” she commented eyeing Shujaa. “Hes so restless.” she muttered.
Nala nodded to her mother and nuzzled her dad, “Don’t forget the meeting. It’s important.” she whispered before bounding down the dirt path towards the watering hole. As Nala made her way through the tall grass it tickled her belly, she laughed to herself softly. The young lioness looked for her brother and spotted him lounging by the water, “Mheetu.” she called and gently padded towards him. She came to a stop and looked down at him, his green eyes matched her mothers and their facial expressions where like twins. Except Mheetu had a mane growing, gold fluffy tufts started to grow and when the sun met his fur it shined red, like her fathers.
Mheetu’s ears flattened back assuming it was his mother standing over him, he opened one green eye to spot Nala. “Oh, its just you sis. I thought you were mom.” he yawned. The young lion stood to his paws and had finally grown up, he was a bit bigger then Nala and he still had room to grow.
“Hiding again are we Mheetu? You know she worries when you don’t come home to the den.” she added and nuzzled her brother. “Come to Pride rock, Simba and I want to tell the rest of the Pride our plan.” she said pushing him with her paw.
Mheetu laughed, “I’m not hiding; I just don’t want to be stuck doing some lame duties.” he muttered and followed behind his sister. As they made their way back to Pride rock Mheetu stepped beside Nala, “I just feel like I don’t belong here sometimes.” he commented sheepishly.
Nala blinked a few times and frowned slightly, “But of course you do Mheetu, you’re my brother. This is your home.” she added before stepping ahead of Mheetu to join Simba’s side.
Mheetu frowned and reclined back by a rock; he was in view but still could hear the news. “That’s the problem. Maybe it’s not a home for me..” he whispered softly.
