Scar's Alternative Name

I like the idea of Scar having a name before adopting "Scar" as his name. I mean, really, what a cosmic coincidence if he was named Scar at birth and then recieved a scar across the eye at some later date.

I hope this isn't considered a tangent, but I have always though that the animals have there own language separate from the language of humans. So just because Taka means trash in the human language, it could have a different meaning to the Lions. Because I can't honestly see parents naming their child trash.

That's actually a pretty good theory. Just like it would be kinda weird for a parent to name their child something that means the animal they are - like the TLK6NA book set tends to do.

I've always known him as Scar, so I don't really like Taka for him, I don't think it fits him.
Although, since English is not my first language, calling the character has never felt like actually saying "scar", you know what I mean? But I guess that if it did, or if they had translated Scar's name in the movie, I wouldn't like it...

I know what you mean. I saw TLKoB such a long time ago, I didn't really ascosciate Scar's name with the word 'scar' (despite me being English). So to me it seems like a name, just like any other. I don't think Taka fits - it seems weird that the parents would give Scar a name with such negative connotations.

Thanks, and you're right. I doubt that when Mufasa and Sarabi were naming Simba, that they thought it would be a good idea to name there lion cub Lion.

Yeah when I have kids I'm totally naming them Trash, Want and Lion.

I like you're theory though, that's what I've always believe [That they have a different language.] Like whales. They all speak in one 'language' but different families have slightly different accents [True stuff.]
