Rafiki probably just slipped Simba some of his crack and started impersonating Mufasa's voice in the bushes while Simba got high and saw the ghost. 'Tis a simple explanation really

OMG, I just can imagine the scene, good thing that it didn't make it on the movie

It's actually quite possible. Considering the way Rafiki normally acts, he MUST be on something. And your long-dead daddies don't just hop down from Heaven and take a ride on a cloud while telling you to man up. Poor Simba... Drugged and manipulated....

Yeah, it would certainly ruin a huge part of the movie, wouldn't it? D:
I wonder what other theories there are though, other than the Monkey-On-Crack theory >.>

Here is a few reasons:
1) If Simba returned as a cub obviously he would not be able to fight Scar. :evil:

2) If he did return to fight Scar he would die. :-o

3) If Mufasa really had to tell Simba maybe he only was able to channel Simba for a few seconds and thought Simba would understand if he came as a GIANT SPIRIT MONSTER 8-)
