We Were Proud Once and Young. (Rated PG-13/ upper T or lower M / PEGI-16 / other equivalent) <- I'm serious about this.

Try and read the entire thing. I know that it's long, but please bare with me.

On the topic that announced the changing of the RP section, I mentioned how many RP ideas never get started, but are instead turned into fanfiction, simply because the author does't want their idea to be modified (ruined) by someone else. I also mentioned that I have an idea that I want to make an RP, but would rather see it done my way in a fanfiction. Well, I decided to let others join in, as an RP, and here is my idea:

An AU role play that places in a very enlarged Lion King universe during what we know as World War 1.

General Backstory: The African Prides united into separate "kingdoms" that for the most part coexist peacefully, but still exist rather independently. Individual prides still exist, but are controlled by a ruler of a kingdom, where one dominant pride rules over others. Sometimes through mutual agreement, other times by force, but now it is very rare to have a pride to live independently. Think if it as prides are states within a bigger nation. Mufasa in the ruler of his "state" and nation. To the north, the Asian lion prides do the same thing, but having less lions, are more united. Both sides get so powerful that tensions rise, and the North African kingdoms send troops to the Asia/Africa border (The Sinai Peninsula) to guard the narrow passage that is the only way into Africa (navies don't exist). The Asian kingdoms also send their troops to their side of the peninsula, and the forces remain there, ready for combat at a moment's notice.

When an Asian prince suddenly dies mysteriously, and the North African kingdoms denying responsibility, the tensions reach a critical mass, and war erupts. At first, both sides believe that with a decisive push, they can win the war quickly. It helped that they already had their forces in position... Unfortunately, neither side breaks through, and both settle for a long, bloody war. They adopt trench warfare to hide troop movement and keep the enemies guessing where the bulk of the forces lie. Neither side attempt a major push due to the knowledge that such a movement will alert the enemy where the majority of the forces are, and invade from the side, resulting in both armies invading the apposing kingdoms, while avoiding each other's forces. At the home front, sapiance work hard to bring forth the next tool to end the war. These include claw attachments, body armour (to a limited extant), poison gas, and atillery systems (think catapults). Those who don't wish to fight (or can't) sometimes volunteer as doctors and nurces to help the wounded. During the first bloody year, the war is a Asia/Northern Africa affair. The southern kingdoms avoid joining in the war, aware of the deadly costs of it, and unwilling to interfere in a "foreign affair".

When the war seems to have no end, the North African kingdoms, tired of the slaughter, ask their southern neighbors for help. Reluctantly, the Southern African Kingdoms, because orders to the Asian Armies were intercepted, in them, a plan to take over all of Africa and "tame the African beasts". The representative for the southern kingdoms, King Mufasa, grimly acknowledges that they must get involved, and try and win the war once and for all. The Southern Kingdoms recruit members for their armies, and prepare them for training for the worst war the lion kingdoms had ever seen before...

Specific backstory: When Mufasa declares that the Pridelands, along with their South African allies, will be joining the war, the reception is optimistic: everyone were already wondering how long it will take the Southern Kingdoms to act, and stop pretending that everything is fine, when their northern neighbors are fighting for their lives. Despite Mufasa's wishes, Simba, along with other pridelanders, volunteer to go with the first detachment of Southern Forces to the Sinai Peninsula. They believe that their additional support will enable the African forces to quickly and decisively win the war. But first, they must train for the coming battles ahead...

This is where the RP starts, as the Pridelander regiment is created and the troops begin their training.

Important note: War is a serious topic, and I don't want people not to take it seriously.

I'm going to ask Moka about bad language, because I've seen battles and violance in RPs, so that's okay, but profanity is against the forum rules, but war is uinrealistic without it. If I get permission, I'll allow profanity (hence the ratings above), and if I get a no, then hte language will remain clean. But the rating stands.

Try to post at least once a day if relevant. If you choose minor characters, post as much as possible when they are in the RP, as not to be left out. Try not to leave the RP hanging, please. This is gonig to take a long time to finish, so if you join, prepare for a long commitment.

I don't want to sound harsh, but I am the melevolent dictator for this RP, and what I say happens will happen. I will only uses this power if the RP accidenly stalls, collapses, spirals out of control, etc...

Characters (IMPORTANT):

You are free to include OC's (as in the character list), BUT PLEASE GET MOR THAN ONE CHARACTER. Being war, it is very likely that your character might die. If a character is about to die, I will announce it in this topic to allow their owners to accept it, or agree on a compromise. If you don't want your character to die, choose one that is out of the front lines. Pleaase make your OCs lions, but if you want another species, ask me. Birds are important because they serve as scouts and messangers, while apes are the 'scientists', responsible for the tools that hopefully will end the war, but mostly just increase the carnage.

Mufasa and Sarabi are safe, because they will never be in the front lines. They might visit a safe location, but they won't get killed.

I grabbed Simba becuase I wuld like to keep him in check. He's a major political figure (the son of Mufasa, representative of the Southern Kingdoms), and therefore I would like some force to back me up if the RP goes in a bad direction. I will choose another character afterwards when others get a chance to take characters. I might use an OC. Once again, PLEASE TAKE MORE THAN ONE CHARACTER. Absoultely critical if one (or both/ more than one) are fighting in the front lines. I read that causalties in WW1 (dead and wounded) reached even 50%. That's even greater than WWII.

I will allow female OCs, but only a few of them. Females aren't allowed to fight (sorry, segreagation), but they are allowed to help as doctors and nurses. Respected by both sides, medics don't get attacked as long as they don't fight. Female characters don't get killed, so they are a safe option for those who don't want their character to (potentially) die.

No rogues. Early in the war, rogues tried to get in the war, only to be attacked by both sieds due to the fact that the armies couldn't tell who the rogues fought. Some rouges fought the winning side, changing as the potential changed, further demising ther reputation. It is not unheard of for the two armies to cooperate in eliminating rogues in the combat area.

I will also allow characters that are Asian lions. Despite the fact that the pridelanders are African (and therefore the Africans are the "good guys"), I don't want this to be a white and black war. The Asian lions are just as good (or bad) as the African enemiies, they just happen to be on the wrong side of the war. It will be interesting to get a bit of perpective from the Asian point of view. However, Asian characters will be minor, most likely killed off or simply not heard of again, and will not effect the story in any way.

Major plot points: Being World War One, this RP is more focused on the daily struggle of the lions in the front lines and how they cope with the violance and death. Simba and the Pridelandrs will not win the war for the Africans, only help turn the tide against the Asian arimes, and together, the African forces will force the Asian arimes to surrender (it will still be moslty a stalemate until the very end). Yes, the African arimies will win.

I hope that this will becoem a grand RP. But hte chaces of it maknig all the way to the end are rather slim. This is why I ask for deticated RP-ers.

It's fine if you join in late. The only problem with is that you might not get a major character. But there are plenty of spots for OCs.

Kind of cruel, but you are free to create characters that will only est for one scene, or even "redshirt" characters.

We finished our World Wars review unit so I guess I better join while Mufasa's still open Let's see... I'll have Mufasa, Tojo, and Ni. Ni and Tojo are with Simba, right?

Alright, after that lovely bout of reading (Nah, seriously. I was fine with reading it.) I think I'll have Malka, my OC Vah and someone else that I haven't decided on yet...Also, I know Vah is supposed to be a rogue, but for this RP he could just be part of the pride or something. (Maybe?)

For the third character I was thinking about my second OC Kidogo. I know, I know...he's a Caracal and you said you want mainly Lion characters, but yeah...Just wondering if I could use him? If not then I'll choose someone else.

The easiest way to include Kidogo is to change his species into a lion.

If he looks like a normal Lion, that would be fine. Maybe a red-ish tint to his fur?
