They shouldn't be called that because they're not and it's evident from the entity of the book universe's content and the film makers's published decisions. I mean, it's ok to like to / personally think them sub-canon even though they're not, but the facts should be kept straight and clear for the sake of those who what to know what really is canon/sub-canon/official. Because knowing the reality becomes confusing/hard if people spread terms and information they want / like to believe/be instead of the terms/information that really are accurate. In the least people should make clear that they are speaking about only their personal preferences and not the way things officially are so that people who care can go and find out how things really officially are.

Personally, I beleived that Uru was Mohatu's daughter.

I believe Ahadi is Mohatu's son.

Because;
In my point of view, Taka/Scar looks a lot like The Selfish Lion,
and Ahadi had Mohatu's body type.
So Uru is the Selfish lions cub with some random lioness.
and Ahadi if Mohatu's Cub with the unknown Queen of Priderock.
