Ok: I’ve been looking at RPs for a little while now, and I’ve been a little disappointed, simply because there hasn’t been many RPs that let people play whomever they want, however they want. It’s always something like, “Simba has a cub but nala hated it so it became evil and killed its older brother” and then everyone has to RP all of that before they’re allowed to do what they want to do. Usually, those RPs don’t seem to get very far.
So I want to create a RP where you’re free to make your character do whatever you want. You can play a canon character if you want, or an OC. It’s completely up to you. The RP will be about seeing how we all interact with each other; which characters form friendships, and which become enemies.
To make this happen I’ve generated certain conditions:
1) This will NOT take place in a pride. There aren’t going to be other lion/lionesses running around that do your bidding. So effectively your character must start out as a rogue/outcast/traveller. So make up a story about why he/she left her pride. It might be the reason Zira left Pride Rock, or the same reason Nala left before she found Simba (to find help).
2) When you design your character, ONLY share the description with other players. That way, when my character meets your character, I will have to get to know him/her slowly. But you should still design your character so you have written down what he/she is like (if you’ve got an existing character you want to use who already has a description, then that’s fine).
3) Give each of your characters a “fatal flaw.” I got this from the sims Medieval (I know, I know) and it’s a character trait that will stop your character from being too angelic. You don’t need to share what your flaw is with other players but it should affect how your character behaves, at least from time to time. You can make your fatal flaw whatever you like (from “too trusting” to “can’t trust”, or “submissive” to “must be in command”), but if you don’t have any ideas then you can pick one from http://thesimsmedieval.wikia.com/wiki/Fatal_Flaw . For instance my character, Mipa, would have the fatal flaw of gluttony, and maybe also “too trusting.” You can design your character first and then decide what their fatal flaw is if you want.
4) Bad guys: DON’T say you’re a baddie in your character description!!! That way, you can trick us by behaving nice and then backstabbing us later. It’s more fun for everyone this way: the bad guy gets to interact with the main characters all the time, rather than waiting for “their turn” to do something bad. As stated before, only post your character’s physical description (unless you’re using an existing OC).
5) I want to leave this RP permanently open. People (and characters) can come and go. If you want to leave though, try to make your character leave in the RP. For instance: “So long! It’s been nice knowing you, but I’ve decided you’re all douche bags.” **walks away**
6) Max of three characters each, preferably less.
Some personal preferences for this RP now.
1) Let’s keep it to one post a day. You’re all busy RPing in my morning (I live in Australia), so I can’t keep up as my mornings are busy. Anyway, I prefer long, careful posts, but not too long or I tend not to read everything. So let’s say a maximum of 500 words (except for the first page, where you can go a little longer). There’s no minimum, but try to be detailed. If you don’t think you can post at least 300 words with reasonable consistency, you might be more suited to a different RP.
The RP MIGHT become really boring, but in my experience, the constant shifting of characters usually means it won’t. All it takes is for someone to introduce a bad guy and then everyone else has to stop him/her
