Royal escorts sounds good to me, since they are close to Shenzi anyway (they're her cousins in my version of things, not just in this story but in all my TLK stories).

So they're cousins (are Banzai and Ed brothers?) whose mother/father were secondborn and booted from the throne, but still part of the Royal Family so their children were made Royal Escorts to the Queen.

Yes, Ed and Banzai are brothers. As for the second part, that sounds right (Shenzi was heiress to the throne, and Ramses was a noble who married her, thus assuring that he would be sultan).

Yep. Shenzi is one of the few people that Ramses truly loves (other than himself). As for Ed and Banzai, he enjoys tormenting them.
