Vitani turned away from Fadhili and strained her eyes for any sort of movement that might mean there was something to hunt. She took a couple of steps forward and tilted her head in a confused manner and also a curious one. She was confused as to why there weren't any animals around that the two of them could hunt, and she was curious because she wanted to know the reason for there not being anything to hunt. Something must be causing this. For now though, they would just need to keep looking, or just stop entirely and go off to do something else. Giving up wasn't how Vitani did things, though, so she turned back to her friend and walked towards her again. "What are we going to do now? Keep looking? We could just be wasting our time, but what else can we do to pass the time?" she asked. Even if Fadhili didn't want to keep looking, Vitani would still go off on her own to try. At this rate, though, it didn't seem like she would be able to find anything...

===========

Vah felt something warm dripping down from his cheek, but he didn't do anything to try and find out why it was, as he just felt too weak to do anything. The only movement he made was to tilt his head and look up to Kiara who was standing above him. It was only when he did this that a jolt of pain suddenly struck him, forcing him to let out a sharp cry of pain and to pull back from Kiara. Vah's breathing and heart beat began to quicken again. She slowly brought a paw up to his injured cheek and touched it very lightly, immediately yanking his paw back from the injury and yelping in pain. "Kiara... Vah began, only whispering her name. "This really, really hurts..." he finished, trailing off at the end as he stared up into the sky, still breathing quicker than normal. He now knew that he was losing quite a bit of blood and he straight away regretted going for that Wildebeest.

Fadhili thought for a moment, "Even if we do decide to do something else, this is wierd..." They would have to hunt for food sooner or later, and Fadhili had a hard time believing they wouldn't be able to find anything, even though that's what most would conclude from the looks of it. "I really don't know what about you... But I say we continued looking..." if finding food would be difficult, then they might as well start looking before they actually did become hungry.

======

Kiara felt horrible. Her ears flattened against her head and she slowly lay down closely to Vah, "I'm really sorry... This is my fault..." If only she hadn't made him hunt since they already had enough food... She should have listened to him when he said he doesn't do well when under pressure. She sighed, "I shouldn't have told you to do this..." she noticed he was still bleeding slightly and hoped she could help. She gently licked the gash a few times and then gently put some pressured on it with one of her paws to stop his bleeding, "Try not to move, even if what I do hurts." her tone was filled with nothing but guilt and concern.

Vitani nodded and sighed under her breath, getting quite annoyed that there was nothing around in the Pridelands to hunt, even though this place was supposed to have a huge abundance of life. Now it just seemed like a huge desolate plain. Much like the Outlands just with more plant life. 'Just like the Outlands'...that one phrase made Vitani freeze and stop what she was doing completely. This place couldn't turn into another copy of the Outlands, could it? Surely that wasn't possible. Vitani shook her head and laughed it off. No, it definitely wasn't possible, it was absolutely absurd. She put on a more serious expression and turned her attention back to Fadhili. "Yeah, I mean there's no reason not to go hunting." Vitani told her, agreeing that they shouldn't stop looking for something. She gestured to her friend to follow her and turned away, walking in an unknown direction to try and find something.

==========

Vah was about to reply to Kiara but he quickly thought otherwise when he felt a sharp, very noticeable stinging pain strike him like something had just sliced through him, which is basically what happened to himself. That Wildebeest's horn had almost cut straight through his cheek and he was surprised that he hadn't lost more blood from the wound. He knew that Kiara was only trying to help and he could hear the guilt in her voice; she thought it was her fault that Vah got injured, but he thought exactly the opposite. It was his own fault and nobody else's. If he hadn't tried to impress Kiara by going for the Wildebeest, none of this would've happened. Again, a large jolt of pain hit Vah as Kiara placed her paw on the wound. He couldn't help but yelp out in pain when the paw was placed on his cheek. "Kiara. Please...don't blame yourself. If I hadn't tried to impress you by-" Vah breathed in sharply and just about managed to stop himself from yelping again. "-by going for that Wildebeest, I wouldn't have this injury..." Vah really didn't like seeing Kiara blaming herself for something she didn't do. It just wasn't right.

Fadhili let out a short sigh and then followed her friend. She was getting more than just confused about the absence of life in the place. Back in the outlands, almost every food they ever ate was after they snuck into the pridelands and hunted something without the pridelanders noticing, but now that they were actually in the middle of the lands, there was nothing to hunt. It made no sense at all and Fadhili really didn't like it. She continued telling herself that this was just an odd, temporary situation that would end soon to calm herself down. As she followed her friend, she continued looking around, letting out an annoyed sigh as she again saw nothing.

------------------

Kiara slowly went ahead and pushed with her paw just a little bit harder against Vah's cheek, despite how much she wanted to stop when she heard his yelping. She let out a sigh as Vah told her that she shouldn't blame herself, not really sharing his opinion. "You wouldn't have done it I hadn't told you to..." she decided however that who's fault it was didn't really matter and managed a smile, "You know you don't have to impress me..." she said, her tone gentle as she slowly removed her paw from his cheek now that the bleeding has stopped. Wanting to make him feel better, Kiara brought her muzzle over and began to gently lick the wound.

Vitani looked over her shoulder and saw Fadhili following her, so she waited a second for her to catch up and turned as she arrived next Vitani. She set off in the same direction as before and immediately noticed her friend's frustration at, what was most probably, the total lack of food around the Pridelands. Vitani was feeling almost exactly the same, but she didn't express those feelings as openly as her friend. She looked around the open plains again and found no trace of any animals. Soon the plants would probably just get up and leave by their own accord, too. Then the Pridelands would look exactly like the Outlands, except for Pride Rock. Vitani knew that the plants would surely stay here forever, so the Pridelands would retain it's beauty. For her, it would be absolutely horrifying if the Pridelands became exactly the same as the Outlands. One of the main reasons she fought against Simba was because the Pridelands seemed like such a nicer place to live and that was entirely true, but for some reason, Vitani felt everything would soon go downhill...

==========

Vah gritted his teeth and dug his claws into the ground as Kiara pushed her paw harder onto Vah's deep cut. He knew that he should try and co-operate with her, and that was exactly what he was trying to do, but being in a lot of pain made it much harder to do so. Vah's breathing slowed down back to normal and the initial pain began to subside ever so slightly when Kiara slowly removed her paw from his cheek.ba second or two later, Vah looked up towards Kiara and smiled at the same time as her. "Thanks, Kiara. I'd never want to be with anyone other than you." Vah replied, occasionally wincing in slight pain as Kiara started licking his wound that had now stopped bleeding. To Vah, she was the light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel, but he had arrived at that light. He knew that she would be the one who would guide him through the hardships of his life. "Should we head back to the den now? I think I might need to rest until this heals up." Vah told her, also knowing that going back to the den meant they could talk about personal matters more openly with each other.

Fadhili continued looking around, becoming more and more frustrated as she again saw absolutely no sign of life besides the plants everywhere. "How does this make any sense?" she asked, not hoping to get a logical answer from her friend but more as a sign of frustration. "There are plenty of animals here and it's almost evening. How come we can't see anything?" she looked at her friend with a rather worried expression, "I wonder how will your mother react to this..." deep inside she really didn't want to find out.

============

Kiara smiled at Vah, "Yes, we should head back right away." she said, kindly licking his gash a few more times before slowly rising to her feet. At first she was about to assist him in getting up, but she didn't want to somehow hurt his pride or anything that might follow, "Can you walk?" she asked with a worried look. She doubter a cut, even if it was a deep one, would give the lion any trouble to stand up and walk with ease, and she only asked it because she was concerned about him.

Vitani shook her head slightly and then looked up to the sky, noticing it was still as blue as ever; what a contrast to the Outlands... She stopped in her tracks as she looked up. It didn't seem as if there was anything abnormal going on other than the complete lack of animals to hunt. She could clearly hear the distant chirping and singing of some birds, but she didn't care about the birds at the moment. All she wanted was to hunt and the fact that they still couldn't find anything was starting to get to her.

Vitani was far from being frightened and scared, she was just very, very annoyed about the whole 'Oh no, there's no animals' thing. Fadhili really grabbed her attention when she mentioned what her mother's reaction to this would be. Vitani swiftly turned to her friend and then glanced to Pride Rock. She knew exactly what Zira was bound to do. "She'll just make the original Pridelanders look for stuff to eat while the rest of us sit around doing nothing. As appealing as it sounds, I'd rather go out and help with the hunting. It's something I like doing, even if it is with the Pridelanders." Vitani stated clearly, obviously not content with just lying under the shade of a tree and doing nothing while others did something she enjoyed.

=========

Vah nodded at Kiara and smiled reassuringly to her; if Vah had been just a few centimetres forward from where he was originally on the Wildebeest, he surely wouldn't have been able to walk for at least a good few days. Vah was lucky. He pushed himself up from the floor with no trouble at all and walked towards Kiara. He glanced back over his shoulder and noticed the large patch of red blood that was still easily visible. He had known he had been bleeding quite a lot, but he didn't imagine the amount lost to be larger than what he initially thought. Wow...did I really bleed that much? Vah asked his mate, still a little bit shocked by the recent 'encounter' with a Wildebeest's horn. He was also slightly disorientated by the blood loss and after walking perfectly fine for a while, Vah began getting a bit dizzy and also quite tired, but he quickly shook himself out of the dizzy and tired state.

After a few more minutes of walking, Kiara and Vah eventually reached the den and entered. Vah began feeling very dizzy and a bit more tired as he walked over to his usual corner. He dropped to the ground partly out of sheer exhaustion and dizziness. He closed his eyes and then opened them again soon after, trying together rid of his tiredness and dizziness, succeeding only slightly. Vah managed to look to Kiara and opened his mouth to speak. So...you want to ask me anything? You deserve to know things about me." he asked. Even if she didn't want to know anything, he would still tell her about his cubhood, despite how much he didn't like it.

Fadhili found herself nodding, "Yeah, might as well start by not letting them do everything on their own..." if anyone was going to suffer under Zira's control, those would be the pridelanders. It seemed as if she left them alive just so that she can make their lives miserable. Fadhili knew that there wasn't much she could do about that, rather than trying to be nice to them and help them out somehow. Again, the lack of animals was really annoying and confusing for her, "This still makes no sense."

============

Kiara slowly walked alongside Vah towards the den, noticing the dizziness that soon showed up over the lion with a worried expression but saying nothing about it. She became even more concerned than she already was when Vah dropped to the ground, now seeming even weaker than before. "I'd love to, but I really don't mind if you told me or not... I barely know anything about myself..." she said, managing a slight smile before heading over to him and snuggling up close, "Are you sure you're okay?" she asked, her ears flattening against her head.

Vah nodded slowly and smiled at Kiara again, trying to get rid of her concern, even though that concern was definitely something that he expected from her, as Vah had just been badly injured. Kiara must've also noticed that Vah was acting strangely; this was probably due to how dizzy he was. He swallowed and then took a deep breath. He was still feeling quite bad after earlier, but he tried not to show it to Kiara. "Yeah, I'm feeling fine, don't worry." Vah knew that he was lying, he didn't feel fine, but he felt well enough to talk to Kiara without passing out. At least, he hoped he wouldn't pass out. Vah nuzzled her reassuringly in the hope she would start to relax. "I...I want to tell you about my life before becoming a rogue." Vah told Kiara. He stopped nuzzling her and looked in her eyes. In those eyes he saw a loving, affectionate and trustworthy lioness; that was exactly why he was going to tell her about his past.

==========

Vitani grimaced and nodded in agreement with Fadhili, even if she did hate the fact that what her friend said was true. It definitely didn't make any sense...Why would nearly every animal just suddenly leave their home in the Pridelands? Even if they did hate Zira, where else did they have to go. Surely there wasn't any other explanation. "If we don't find something soon, then something is seriously wrong. I mean, not all of the animals could've disappeared, could they?" Vitani reasoned as she continued walking, looking for some shred of hope. Even if she couldn't find any hope of there being anything to hunt, she would never give up. She wasn't that kind of lioness.

Kiara continued looking at Vah with a worried expression as it seemed he was just pretending to be feeling okay. However she managed a slight smile as he nuzzled her, realising that whether he was feeling okay and whether he was not, that there was nothing she could do about it anyways. She returned his gaze, "Are you sure?" she asked, somehow denying the fact that she was really curious about his past life. But she wasn't going to even want to hear about it unless Vah was completely sure that he wanted to share it with her.

============

Fadhili looked at her friend as she spoke, really not knowing what to exactly say. "I don't know." she wanted to believe that the answer to that was a clear no, but she really didn't know whether she could. She tried to find some way to reassure Vitani, and herself mostly, "Look, the pridelands are a really big place. Just because there's nothing in sight now doesn't mean that there's no animals on a different part of the lands. We just have to look harder." what she said made sense somehow, and Fadhili hoped she was right.
