Was Scar really THAT bad?

Through things I've seen, and the fan fiction I'm writing, I've come to decide that Scar wasn't that bad of a guy. He had a really rough childhood, but instead of trying to fix it, he just wanted revenge. I think he's made out to be a bad guy, but deep inside he's just that cub that the other cubs made fun of.

What do you guys think?

I think he should be held responsible for his actions, but a rough cubhood is still a rough cubhood (although that defense only gets you so far in a court of law). I think he had a very tough choice to make, either let the past go or get back at those who he believed had wronged him. We all know what choice he made and it's too bad because he was a very smart lion and could have made a great allie and friend...

I like it when movies make a villain but then they go into explain the villain's motives. It makes the movie a lot less black and white and a lot more interesting.

Scar got revenge. Its understandable but still evil.
