^ M I think the OP was getting at how the protagonists are never overweight, it is always someone kids should not like or laugh at (basically in rare cases like Ursulla, even then they always loose)
Pooh Bear isn't all that overweight, he's just big...
no i think pooh bear is fat, and probably a diabetic for eating honey nonstop. but i definitely think there should be more protagonists that are overweight for reasons everyone has already listed.
I do kinda think Disney wants to stay away from the main characters being over weight due to it's unattractiveness and (possibly?) promoting obesity. (whether i agree with it or not is my own opinion) there is one character i can think of that is overweight and is the second main character. In Treasure Planet there is Silver. He is also the main villain, but he is also one of the good guys at the same time. He's supposed to have (i think) a very fatherly figure and status towards Jim. but im not sure if he is the best example either. i do find it strange though. There is Baloo from The Jungle Book, and also the bear in Robin Hood (which funnily enough is drawn exactly like Baloo and voiced by the same guy lol) and the scientist alien guy (cant remember his name) in Lilo and Stitch and Belle's father in Beauty and the Beast.
I'm not saying being obese is healthy. Just that they need someone to look up to too:). I'd love to have had that, lol.
Anyway thanks for all the examples everyone gave. I didn't think of Kung Fu Panda! Maybe because I haven't seen it. Might have to try watching that:). I think I'm probably comparing them all to me and thinking well, they don't struggle the ways I struggle. But then not many people do, so I'm being unfair not to include them.
