Dakari smiled at Mbali's nuzzle, and after returning it tried to staying focused and understanding what she was talking about. He knew nothing about the stars, but what she said did somehow make sense. Maybe this could help them to get home. However when he noticed the star she was pointing at he said, "I'm not really an expert in stars, but that seems kind of far... I mean, I wondered on my own for three months and the locations of the stars... did change now that you mention it, but barely." three months were a lot of time, and if he remembered correctly, those three months moved him what now seemed to be not even half of the way they were going to have to go through, maybe not even a quarter.

Mbali sighed, realizing the great distance they both were from their respective homelands. How they would travel such a distance was a mystery to her, as was whether or not it was even possible.

"Perhaps it would be difficult... but who or whatever brought us here did it, so why can't we do it too?" she asked. "We should think on it awhile. For now let's stick with Snowy. He seems to know what goes on around here." Mbali leaned lightly against Dakari, sharing warmth through their fur, which was quickly failing to hold in the heat.

Dakari said, "It does make sense." he couldn't help but smile when Mbali leaned against him, nuzzling her gently as she did. "Either way, I'm sure we'll be fine." he didn't want to sound selfish about her desire to get back to her family, but he was pretty glad that those humans brought them both there. If they hadn't, he would have never met Mbali not to mention grown to like her so much. Glad or not glad about being brought to that place, he wasn't at all glad at the idea of staying there. He still had a hard time believing anything could live there for too long.

"I'm sure we'll be fine." The words echoed in Mbali's head as Dakari spoke them; she pondered for a few minutes, silently sitting with him, before replying.
"I sure hope you're right." she replied, glancing briefly into his eyes, avoiding too much eye contact. While they were quickly growing closer, they hadn't met very long ago, so she didn't want to fully let on too quickly. It was about that time the cold began to get to her once again. "I think it's about time we headed back to Snowy's den. It's really cold out." she said, looking at him waiting for a response as her tail idly flicked behind her.

What Dakari meant to say was that their life would go on even if they didn't get back home and even if Mbali never saw her relatives again, but he wasn't going to say that using those exact words. Mbali seemed like there was nothing else she wanted more than to get back to her family, and he wasn't going to say anything stupid that might distress her. "You're right, let's go back inside." he said, feeling a slight shiver as a strong wind began blowing, signaling that another storm was probably on it's way.

Mbali got up and began to walk back to Snowy's den with Dakari, almost pulling him up with her as she nuzzled him again. As she did this, Snowy appeared nearby, having gone to fetch them upon sensing that a storm was brewing. "We have to find some food now, before the storm is too strong." he said.

...now?! Mbali was shocked. Another storm like last night's was forming in their presence, and Snowy thought it was a good time to hunt?! He must be mad! she thought to herself.
"Are you sure?" she asked, tilting her head as she asked this.
"Positive." Snowy replied, urgency in his voice. "The storm is going to be strong, but we have time to find food to last us through it once it gets too strong for us to be out here."

Even Dakari's jaw nearly dropped when Snowy came over and decided that now it was a good time to go hunt. It would have been a lot more pleasant if they had gone hunting even earlier, before the storm even began forming up. But if the storm really was going to last as long as the one last night did then they might as well have some food, so there was no point in protesting to Snowy now. "Where do you even find food in this place? You're the first living thing we stumbled across in this place..." he asked, thinking like it was obviously something they should know. "The only food we've found was already half eaten and was taken down by something else."

Snowy looked at them, a bit of pleasure becoming apparent in his eyes. He was going to get to show them something truly magnificent.

"This is true. However, we're traveling to someplace different. We need to get there before the storm is too strong. Once we're there, things will be much easier."

Mbali looked at Snowy perplexedly. "But... where?" she asked.

Snowy smiled warmly. "I know not what it's called. you'll just have to see when we get there." he turned to begin walking, and looked back, waiting for the two lions to follow. Mbali looked at Dakari. "Coming?" she asked, half-jokingly.

Dakari was silent. If things really would be much easier when they got to that place, in regard of the storm, they might as well be better of staying to live there. The storm was barely starting to form up and he was already feeling cold, which gave him the urge to get going. "Yeah, I'm coming." he said to Mbali with a slight smile, walking over and catching up to her before waiting for Snowy to continue leading the way.

Snowy led Dakari and Mbali for a few hours, just walking, until they finally reached a stopping point. "We need to make a hole here like the last one. It will be our shelter tonight. It seems I have misestimated the storm... it will be passing over us." Snowy said, extending his claws and beginning to dig at the snow. He began construction of a new den, going downward and angling to make a cozy room below the surface of the snow.
