"It is. We could use the cave for shelter and the stream for water. There also seems to be plenty of prey around for us to hunt," Cheza said. The young lion was tired from walking, so he laid down on a large flat rock to regain his energy before he explored the area.

"Ohhh, you getting all professional" she replied. Kipekee lay inside the cave, looking around, "Big enough for cubs" she thought.

Cheza continued resting, watching Kipekee as he did so. In that moment, all of his bad memories began to vanish. It beginning to seem as if Cheza didn't have a care in the world. "I'm happy now, Mother," he whispered.

2 1/2 months later, it was clear the Kipekee was pregnant. She was very, very large. "I definitely think there's more than one in there" she said to Cheza, feeling little kicks every now and again.

"More than one?" Cheza replied. Hard as he tried, he could not imagine life with multiple cubs. He was worried. "Well, it looks like we're going to have to work hard to provide for them," he continued.

Kipekee smiled. "You're getting all professional, chill out!" she said, giggling. "We'll provide for them, it's not going to be more than 2 surely!". Kipekee was wrong though, quite wrong.

"I have to be concerned. We're going to have a family and the savannah's a dangerous place," Cheza replied, his mind thinking about the many dangers: hyenas, leopards, snakes and so on. He vowed that he would do everything in his power to protect his children from whatever dangers awaited them, even if it cost him his life.

Kipekee smiled and thought for a bit. "You will make a good father Cheza, your getting so over-protective and they haven't been born yet" she said. In her mind she also worried, "What if something does go wrong".

Cheza sighed. "I apologize. I just don't want to lose another family member. I was so heartbroken when my mother died," he explained. He then nuzzled Kipekee. "I'm sure we'll be great parents. I just wish I had been given guidance in that area," he stated.

"It's ok, I understand" she replied while nuzzling back. "We'll get through this, no matter what". A couple of weeks later the day had arrived. Cheza and Kipekee had gone on a little walk, all of a sudden, a sharp pain went through her body, she whinced and took another few steps. It hurt even more. She was in agongy. "Cheza, Cheza!! I think the cubs are coming!!" she shouted in pain.
