It doesn't necessarily have to be ^ It's just a matter of interpretation, really.
That doesn't settle anything. It says that he fell into the wildebeest, but it didn't say it killed him.
I know it doesn`t say specifically that Mufasa died from landing on the wildebeest, but what I`m wondering is: How could he have survived it?

Well it's impossible for him to have fallen approximately 30 feet onto rock and lived to tell the tale. He obviously wasn't going to land on his feet, he was falling chest up. He probably weighs about 200kgs. It would have killed him. He had already had the opportunity to be trampled by the wildebeest when he was knocked down after he put Simba on the ledge.
And I doubt they would have trampled him at all. He is a big lion, they probably went around him, as we saw when he was laying down after Simba was knocked from his mouth.

I doubt that. I mean, the fall was fatal. But I don't think that thats what killed Mufasa. The wildebeasts would have crushed his internal organs, bones, ect. A fall would cause some damage. But not to that extent.

I think it might have been the first hit by the wildabeast, then the fall completely snapped bones and killed him. idk that's what i think might have happened.

Ah, but the fall could have broken his spinal column and/or neck which would almost instantly kill him.

Aren't you being a little harsh? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, there is no need to shove yours down someone else's throat.

Yeah there is definitely no way a 440 lb lion could survive such a large fall...

Yeah and I get how Simba doesn't weigh all that much but I think the gigantic distance he fell more than makes up for it. And when he reached the bottom he was able to brush the entire thing off and continue running for his life like nothing even happened.

You mentioned that Mufasa had the opportunity to be trampled by the wildebeest when he was down in the gorge rescuing Simba. Yeah, when he was dodging and weaving in between them back when he still had the strength to run. You can't exactly do that when you're injured and exhausted after falling from a great height. A single wildebeest managed to knock him off balance with such force that he dropped Simba and crashed to the ground. Imagine what damage it could of done if its hoof had actually pierced some vital organ...or crushed his neck or something.
It's true that when he put Simba on the ledge, he could have but didn't get trampled after being swept away by the herd. Instead he made a really brave and dramatic jump toward the cliff. But stampedes just work that way. Think of a crowded shopping center. It's just as easy to be swept away by a crowd as it is to lose your footing and end up underneath one. And when you fall from a great height as Mufasa did, it won't be easy getting up again after thousands of feet, or hooves, are pinning you down and choking the life out of you.
And I doubt they would have trampled him at all. He is a big lion, they probably went around him, as we saw when he was laying down after Simba was knocked from his mouth.
But right after that a wildebeest comes crashing to the ground where Simba and Mufasa were a second earlier. I doubt it could have missed them, and would probably have caused a great deal of injury to both had it collided into them. Accidents like that are common in stampedes and I guess Simba and Mufasa were just lucky there. Don't forget that they kicked up a LOT of dust as they ran, so it would have been very difficult to dodge anything in their path, plus they were running in a blind panic and couldn't care less who/what lay in front of them.

Sorry for the terribly long post btw. I have nothing against you personally, I just get so carried away when I'm bored. =/
