How Does Simba Know This?

I suppose that that is plausible. But that still doesn't seem detailed enough.

Makes complete sense. I remember that scene so well I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner.

well, for one thing, cub Simba saw him falling still alive. so later knowing that Scar was responsible, that automatically means Scar threw him off the cliff. when he himself is dangling off Pride Rock with Scar over him, Scar says "This is just the way your father looked before he died." so from that Simba would have a clear idea of how Mufasa was clinging to the gorge. as to the whole sinking claws in thing, it doesn't show that for Mufasa in the dream, just Simba as he tries to save Mufasa and ends up clinging there himself. there are two takes of it from that point. either one: it was simple a part of Simba's dream, not necessarily what he knows happened. and two: Scar had his claws on Simba's paws (though they didn't appear to be actually piercing him like Mufasa) when he told Simba that he killed Mufasa. from that Simba could safely assumed that was how he killed Mufasa, or it could appear like that in his dream since that sorta happened to him before.

and now that I'm looking up from posting this I see SM basically said the same thing lol. but I have to agree, it makes total sense when you think about it.

plus, it was a nightmare not reality. just because Simba saw it happen a certain way in it, doesn't mean he knows it's like the real situation. it's simply how his subconscious put it together from real memories. and as the audience we actually know how similar and different it is.

SimbasMate1 and Simba nailed it, I think. I mean, Simba knew Mufasa died by falling off the ledge, and he found out later that Scar killed him and that he held him pinned by his paws (from the end scene of TLK), so it would of been easy for him to guess that Scar might of dug in his claws to support his weight and pushed him off violently so he could fall to his death. Either he put all this information together and was able to accurately picture Mufasa's death as it actually happened, or he didn't and his dream did it for him subconsciously. It makes sense both ways.
