It was the music that ruined TLK 2 for me. TLK had the most awesome music ever.

I like TLK 2 on some level, but I do have difficulty watching it sometimes as I really don't like how different the characters from the original movie have changed so much. I enjoy it as something completely separate from the original TLK.

Yeah. The original TLK movie is awesome. The animation quality was way more better.
What plot holes? I thought everything was explained pretty well. The only plot holes here are imaginary ones caused by our natural way of over thinking, analysing and theorising. I mean I did not really see any when I watched it...
there is no explanation of where the Outlanders came from in the film. all we know is they hate Simba, and Zira thinks Scar should've been king instead. the only explanation for how the Outlanders came about came from a Mouseworks book about the film after it released.

another plothole is what Zira's relationship with Scar was. while many fans consider her to have been his mate, there's no real concrete evidence of that (and personally I don't believe it one bit). and along with that, whether or not Zira's cubs are supposed to be Scar's or not. well, I personally don't find anything to really suggest that, but some fans argue there's not enough evidence either way. though I'm told Disney has said that none of them are his cubs. so we don't know any of their fathers on a definite basis.

not too long a list of plotholes, but still some important things. it would really have made the tension between the Pridelanders and Outlanders easier to understand (as well as Zira's obsession with Scar) if they had given some sorta explanation. and of course, for those of us who like to consider the TLK6NA books canon, then there's definitely some plotholes there lol. but they aren't exactly official plotholes.

The only thing in TLK2 that I have a problem with is the low animation qualities.

If you try not to compare it too much with the first film, it's definitely not all that bad. Not for a Disney sequel at least.
