Kweli's heart sunk. She knew this was going to happen, but she'd planted a little seed of hope inside her and now she felt it wither and die. She turned around slowly and walked away, not wanting them to see her crying.

Kiara smiled, glad it was over. "So Lebu, you are happy?"

The eyes of Hila widened as Kovu announced the future queen of the Pride Lands. She almost blew her head opened by half astonishment, half rage. Although these terrible thoughts rushed through her brain, she knew saying them out loud would only make matters worse. All Hila could do was gaze disdainfully at her sister's unattractive features. Slacking jaw, incorrect posture, untidy claws, why would they ever choose her? she thought with cold fury. Her sharp claws emitted from her paws and dug into the ground vigorously as anger seethed through her face. The beautiful adolescent lioness's eyes whipped toward her other sister, Kweli. Utter disappointment shone clearly on her striken face.

* When Kovu and Kiara had left, Hila strode toward Kweli and let her anger rush out of her. "What are you bubbling about, you useless wimp? You had no chance whatsoever of becoming queen and you know it! You're ugly, disgusting, and plain cowardly! You are pointless! I'm ashamed of calling you my sister!" Her head whipped back toward Lebu's and pointed a claw furiously at her face. "And wipe that smug grin off your face before I knock it off for you!" She turned around with another "Huff" and stalked off toward the cave entrance, leaving her sisters behind.

Kweli cringed at Hila's words. She felt her warm tears gently roll down her face. She's right. I'm nothing she thought to herself, the pain in her chest increasing. She walked away, not even wanting to know what happened now.

Kiara was padding back to Pride Rock, "Kovu, you think we made the right decision?" Kiara asked quitely.

"I'm sure of it." He nodded, with no expression.

"Okay then" Kiara nodded. She contiuned padding away, deciding not to look back. "I'm scared, I can't tell Kovu, what if it's going to be a Mufasa-Scar situation again" she thought.

Kweli's eyes stung with tears. She was a failure. She ran to her favourite place in the pridelands and wept.
