But they were mostly out of the area when Mufasa fell. If there were fewer wildebeast, then they had more chance of avoiding Mufasa as they passed by.

I suppose. But the wildebeast were terrified. They wouldn't watch where they were going. If they saw an obsticale, they'd jump over it. But if they didn't see it, with all the dust, they might have crashed into it or may have kicked it.

It is a little of both. I think that the wildebeasts played a bigger part in it.

i think it was the fall, because he would have been pretty tore up by the hooves of the wildebeast if it had been them. maybe he broke his neck.

Not neccesarily: Mufasa would have been damaged on the inside, not the outside. Hooves don't cut, they crush.

The hooves would have cut him. Wildebeest have quite small, pointed hooves and they would have penetrated him. If they were buffaloes, for example, then maybe.

To further expand on what I said on page 1, and add another reply to this violent thread... I don't really think it was purely the fall, but I do think it played the biggest part in his death. After the fall, he was trampled to death.
