Er...actually he didn't. If you'd read Boma's wiki article or most of the previous posts in this thread, you'd know that one of the buffaloes in Boma's herd scarred Taka/Scar, not Boma himself.

I read TLK6NA though, it says that Boma gave it to him.

No, it doesn't. It merely says that "the biggest buffalo" in Boma's herd struck him, and Boma was stuck in a ravine when this happened. You can read the chapter where this happens online.
