What Do You Think Really Killed Mufasa?

I agree with Summer my friend saw a cat fall off a 2 story Balcony railing and went it see if it was ok and it just sat there for a moment and then walked away. I think it was a combination of both the impact of the fall and then be trampled that did it.[/quote]

Um, Cats way about 5 kilos average, male lions are about 100-200 kgs at most. The fall would've done ALOT of damage...
Now we cant see exactly how far Mufasa fell, but one could assume it was about 20-30 feet. So if you calculate something that weighs 200kg (Mufasa was large) falling 20=30 feet, his speed would have increased by 1m per second, per second (I think). So he would have been travelling very fast.

I think Mufasa survived the fall and might have made it out alive had the herd of wildebeest not literally trampled him to death. He might have had some life in him before that and I'm sure he broke many bones when he landed, but I think the repeated beating of hooves on his body was more than he could handle, especially in his weakened condition. Even so I think it took a lot of wildebeest to take the great Lion King down; they must have damaged many vital organs and crushed several ribs and even his spine before finally leaving him to die a slow agonizing death.

Well we know he didn't land on his feet, and they are not designed to fall that far. And what would muscles do?

If he is muscular, which he is, the impact isn't as effective as it would be if he were a skinny unhealthy lion. I know he didn't land on his feet. The fall didn't kill him.

I believe that the fall was what killed Mufasa. If you look at screengrabs of him falling, he was falling onto his back, which probably would have broken his spine when he hit the ground. If that didn't kill him, the wildebeast certaintly would.

So your saying that the wildebeast and the fall killed him? Thats what I've been trying to say, in a way. I think the wildebeast played a bigger part in his death than the fall itself.

I suppose you can say that. And if you do think about it, all cats land on their feet. I read in a book how they do it: when in the air, they just quickly maneuver their body into a landing position and land without breaking any and/or few bones. Then again, the wildebeast were mostly out of the area by the time Scar succesfully threw Mufasa off the cliff...

No, the wildebeast weren't out of the area when Mufasa fell. When Mufasa yells as he falls, you see wildebeats running by.
