-The fastest living thing on earth is not a cheetah, is not a falcon, but is a type of fungus (or something similar) that lives on horse poop :D The fast bit is when it shoots it's seeds out.
It's so fast, you have to slow it down 10,000 times to see it clearly.

-If you remove a filter in your eyes, you see everything in ultra-violet.
This is why Kestrels can hunt so well, they see the ultra-violet urine left by voles and follow the trail. This is also why Kestrels don't live as long...if they lived as long as us, they'd go blind from all the UV rays!

- When something is on fire, it's not the object itself that burns, but rather, when an object gets hot enough, it releases a highly combustable gas.

- Hyena's actually belong to the cat family. They're not dogs!

- Nearly 3,000 people cross the famous "Scramble Crossing" in Japan, everytime there is a green light.

- Japan has the highest suicide rate, with, on average, 16 people taking their own lives every minute.

- In the USA an animation will have 24 frames per second, but in the UK, we will use 25 frames!

- In an explosion, it's not the fire or debris that does the damage, but it's the shock wave that can only be seen in super slow motion, that creates havok.

Video with footage of a few houseblocks in a town called Enschede in the Netherlands being blown off the face of the earth by an exploding firework factory.

At 1:30 you see the 2nd explosion that did most of the damage, you can clearly see a huge shockwave in the slowmotion.

Do you know how much a female lion weighs? A male lion?

A female lion weighs 260 to 330 pounds (120 - 150 kg). A male lion weighs about 330 pounds up to 500 pounds (150 - 250 kg). A male lion is easy to spot as they have the destinguished mane whereas females do not have a mane.

1. Jefferson Davis' first wife was Sarah Knox Taylor whose father would become President of the United States. Davis of course, would be the president of the Confederacy.

2. The Playstation was almost an add-on for the SNES. Sony (and Phillips) both had been developing a CD ad-on for Nintendo. Sony's became the Playstation and Phillips did...ugh, the CD-I :P Apparently, Sony also had negotiation fall through with the Genesis too.

3. The last song John Lennon ever worked on was the Yoko Ono single "Walking on Thin Ice." He overdubbed guitar and mixed the song a few hours before his murder. He was holding a copy of the final mix when he was shot. The last song he worked on for himself was a demo called "You Saved my Soul" and was recorded 3 weeks before.

4. Ode to Joy, which features in Beethoven's ninth symphony was originally written in the 1790's making it one of Ludwig's oldest works. The original arrangement is lost. In addition, the words are from a German poet in the 1790's.

- About twenty-five percent of the population sneeze when they are exposed to light. (I do!)

- The word "lethologica" describes the state of not being able to remember the word you want.

- Every human spent about half an hour as a single cell.

- If a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in The air, the person died in battle. If the horse has one front leg in The air the person died as a result of wounds received in battle. If the Horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.

- It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in- law with All the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month we know today as the honeymoon.

- In Scotland, a new game was invented. It was entitled Gentlemen Only Ladies Forbidden.... and thus the word GOLF entered into the English language.
