Zira's eyes burned with deep hatred for Kovu's words. By forcing Kovu to kill Shari, it would have created another Scar. But the one thing that she didn't count on was Kovu's will to maintain his friendship with Shari. It was most pitiable to the plan. Zira wanted more than anything to kill them both. Though she knew deep down in her disheartened heart, that Kovu was right. They would need every able bodied fighter to win this battle.

But now... something else filled Zira's mind. Kovu was right. Shari would not be able to make an affiliation with Kiara because he did not know her as a cub. Which would open way to something else in Zira's devious mind. If this plan worked out, they wouldn't need to get Vitani and Nuka to light the Pride Lands on fire. "Very well then. You both may live... after all I have something much better in mind for the plan."

---------------------------------------------

It worked. Kovu had saved Shari, and Shari had saved Kovu. Shari shot a smile at his friend. When all of the sudden, he felt something dripping down his right eye. It seemed that Kovu had hit him harder than he thought. Shari felt the blood dripping down his eye... and it was probably scarred. He didn't care. As long as Kovu was safe.

"I'm glad you're OK, Kovu. I-I was worried." Shari said with a grin. He didn't want to move until he was sure that Zira wouldn't hurt Kovu. After Zira walked toward Nuka and Vitani, Shari lowered his guard.

(Ah man. This post sucked. At least it moved the plot along...)

Kovu looked sadly at his friend, "This isn't over, she is working on something" He saw the blood welling from Shari's eye, "I didn't mean to hit you that hard" He walked away to get some rest, training would resume tomorrow and it wasn't likely to be pretty. He wondered to himself quietly what Zira was up to....

Shari walked out of the darkness of the termite mound and to a small pond. He looked into the water at his reflection. Kovu had accidentally scarred his right eye. Shari sulked for a minute, but wiped the thought from his mind. Kovu didn't mean to do it.

He looked up at the sky for answers. Zira was planning something big. Far bigger than before. Something in her mind clicked, and now she had a plan for both Kovu and Shari. But what it was would not be revealed until the day truly arrived.

---

Meanwhile, the Pride Lands awake in a fluster of activity. Something was happening on this day. Something that caused all of the lions to be excited. Indeed, such a grand day was to take place. It was Kiara's first hunt. The lionesses stood by the tip of Pride Rock waiting for the guest of honor to arrive and take off on her mission. There was only one lion who didn't like the idea of Kiara leaving on her own on a dangerous journey.

Simba stayed silent as the ceremony continued. Muttering from the group of lionesses increased as the gossip of Kiara's growth seemed to grow in size and excitement. From the road trotted another lioness. Nala approached her mate and nuzzled him lovingly. She tried to calm him as his anxiety was clearly labeled on his muzzle. Fear that his daughter might be hurt wrought all over his mind and tormented his brain. He knew this day would come. And now that it had arrived, he realized that his daughter was growing up faster than he'd thought.

Simba couldn't clear his mind. There was something about today that just wasn't normal. Something out of the ordinary, besides Kiara hunting, and he just couldn't put his paw on it. Perhaps he shouldn't let Kiara go hunting after all. The other lionesses could take care of things. But then it would be as if she hadn't grown at all. Simba heaved a heavy sigh as he realized there was no way out of the inevitable.

(yay now i can reply lol)

Tivana yawned as she looked at Kiara, who was getting ready for her first hunt ever in the Pridelands. Tivana was a little older than Kiara, but she was not allowed to hunt. She didn't know why, but it must have been her own history. Someone had said she was an outlander when she came to the pridelands. She had to admit she did look like it. So did her little brother, Tuva. He was still a cub and she was taking care of him until he grew up.

"Oh come on Kiara. You'll be fine." She complained, yawning again. Kiara sighed, shaking her head.

"Alright, alright. Let's go." Kiara said, taking a breath and walking out of the cave, followed by Tivana. The lionesses were deep in discussion as Kiara made her way out on Pride-Rock. Tivana smiled, nuzzling her best friend, before running off to sit with the lionesses. Tuva joined his sister, sitting between her paws.

"You should be doing your first hunt. You're older." He said. Tivana growled a warning. Tuva had a thing with speaking what he thought. It was true. Tivana wished it was her right beside Kiara making her first hunt, but she didn't care as much as she thought.

Kiara walked straight up to her mother and father. She nuzzled her mother warmingly, smiling. Pulling back, she looked at her father.

"Daddy. You have to let me do this on my own. Promise?" She asked, looking at him.

Staring at the ground, Simba silently sulked. He wished that there was more that he could do to keep his precious daughter safe. But sadly, his time of cherishing and protecting her had come to a close. Why did time have to be so cruel? Why did the world have to bring the time that he and his daughter spent together to an end? He remembered all the times they'd had before this day. The mornings when she would try to sneak away from Simba's watchful eye. The nights when they would lay with their backs to the ground gazing at the beautiful starry sky. where did all the good days go?

Simba looked up and saw his daughter and her best friend Tivana appear at the back of the line of lionesses. The time had come. There was nothing more Simba could do. As he watched Kiara walk closer and closer towards him, he felt his heart sink within his stomach. He didn't want to look Kiara in the eyes. She would demand something from him before she left. That much was obvious. And as his mate trotted over to greet their daughter warmly, Simba's thoughts were made a reality.

Do this on your own? Simba thought quietly to himself. So this decision was all in his paws? Not like it mattered anyways. Kiara wouldn't take no for an answer. Simba looked at Kiara for a moment. But then his eyes trailed off into Nala's. She gave him a look that said "You know what to say." Without even echoing a word to Simba, Nala communicated what he had to do. Simba looked back at Kiara. My how she had grown. "Alright." he started with an unsure voice. The hardest part was letting go of one he loved. He had already done such a thing once... and now he had to it again. "I promise."

-------

Upon the horizon of the Pride Land's border, three lions stood waiting for their chance: Zira, Kovu, and Shari. The plan had been altered slightly, but the goal was still the same. But if this plan worked, then Kovu would gain Simba's trust much quicker. And thus, revenge would be had much sooner.

Kiara grinned as her father made his promise. She walked over and nuzzled her father lovingly.

"I'll be find Daddy. Don't worry." She whispered. "I love you." She added, before looking back at the lionesses. They all stood watching her with eager eyes. Kiara smiled, looking at Tivana, who nodded, gracing her with good luck. She then jumped off the rock and bounded down into the lands, on a mission to become successful on her first hunt.

Tivana watched Kiara leave, before yawning and walking over to a lone rock. Jumping on it, she laid down and sighed, feeling a pang of jealously run through her veins. Tuva jumped on her back, licking the back of her head, before curling up on her side.

"You okay?" He asked. She nodded, looking out to the horizon as clouds began to cover the sky and the sun. The smell of rain was tangy in the air. Tivana looked up as Tuva began hitting her in the head with his tail.

"Tuva go play with Zazu or Timon and Pumbaa." She said. Tuva looked at her, but didn't protest and ran off to find the meerkat and warthog. Tivana sniffed the air. Something wasn't going to go right today, she could feel it. She wished she could be out there with Kiara, but of course she wasn't allowed. Simba just doesn't understan. Sometimes Outlanders can be Pridelanders also She thought, sighing and closing her eyes.

Simba watched as Kiara jumped onto the grasslands and took off on her quest. He kept his eye on her for the longest time, anticipating something bad to happen so he'd have a reason to keep her from hunting in the future. But as fate would have it, nothing bad happened to Kiara and she bounded from Pride Rock into the Pride Lands below. Simba heaved a heavy sigh again as his mate walked to his side and slightly started him with her presence.

"Don't worry Simba. She'll be fine." Nala whispered in his ear. She wanted to keep the statement short and sweet with no crowds present to hear. As soon as she started her statement, it was over. She started toward the den as she said "You taught her everything she knows."

Simba watched as Nala entered the den and then kept watching, half expecting her to peak her head out and call out something more to Simba. She obviously did no such thing. Simba turned back around and tried to spot Kiara. No luck as he looked up at the sky. "Yeah... that's what I'm worried about." Simba ushered as quietly as he could before turning around and heading for the den.

On his way back to the cave, he stumbled upon Tivana laying on a lone rock. What did Kiara see in her? She looked like an outsider... and none of them could be trusted. Simba wasn't even sure how she ended up in the Pride Lands. It was a mystery. But Kiara seemed to trust her and her brother Tuva... maybe Simba could gain her trust as well. Besides, being just and kind to all was part of the king's job. Simba walked up to Tivana and cleared his throat to make his appearance known.

"Hey... Tivana. Simba started, unsure how to follow it up. He'd never shared more than a few words with her... it wasn't exactly easy talking to someone who looked as she did. But he couldn't let his prejudice get the best of him. He had to be fair. She was after all older than Kiara. Perhaps offering the next hunt to her would be enough to gain her trust and compassion. It was worth a try."How would you feel about taking the next hunt?"

Tivana looked up when someone cleared their throat near her. She saw Simba standing there. Immediately, she pulled herself up and looked at him.

When Tivana heard those words, her heart began racing. She never thought he would actually let her anytime soon. Was she dreaming?

"Really? You really mean it Simba?" She asked, not sure of what to think. She grinned, her tail swishing behind her fast and lively.

"Thank you Simba! I won't let you down. I promise!" She said. She never thought she could ever be trusted in her entire life because of what she looked like. It wasn't right. Maybe the tables were turning on her luck. Now all she had to do was wait for Kiara to come back.

(Sorry it isn't much. I'll bring Kiara back in soon)

Simba expected such a reaction from Tivana. He could only hope that he'd done the right thing. He still didn't trust her completely. But Kiara had never distrusted the ones who Simba trusted... maybe he should return the favor. He slightly smiled at Tivana before walking to the den. Rather than entering the den though, Simba stayed half in and half out. There wasn't much else he could do outside... but the inside didn't welcome him either.

He looked back around at the sky. Father... have I done the right thing? He thought to himself. Simba had been a king for a while now, but he'd never been referred to as the 'great king' that Mufasa was. He could never hope to be as great as his father was. And so he found himself, more often than not, asking for his guidance to no avail. He stayed half inside the cave before finally heading inside and laying down next to his mate. It seemed like there was nothing more he could do but pray for his daughter's safe return.

-------

Zira's eagle-eye glared fiercely upon the Pride Lands from the border. Gazing from plain to plain, searching for their target. For as soon as she was spotted, Shari could move forward. His claws were drawn, and his newly scarred face was determined and fiery. He was ready for anything.

Suddenly, Zira spotted a lioness far off in the distance. Her head lifted as her heart raced. She turned to Shari and in a hushed yell said "Shari, that's probably Kiara out there! We haven't got time to waste, head out and meet her! And if it isn't Kiara..." She stopped and smirked at Shari. She didn't have to finish her sentence, Shari already knew what to do. But she said anyways, "Kill her."

A single nod from Shari let Zira know he understood. And without a word, Shari bolted from his position to the lioness. He had a long way to go, but he made sure to conserve his energy for the probable battle.

OK Im back. Sorry, had other stuff to do

Kiara watched the herd of gazelle in the clearing as they graze. This was her chance, her time to shine. To make her father proud. She would be successful on her first hunt, making the pride proud.

Taking one step, a twig snapped. The leader of the herd looked up, pricking its ears, then ran, causing the herd to bolt. Kiara gasped, then leapt out, chasing from behind the gazelle. But they were too fast. She couldn't catch them. Skidding to a halt, she watched as the herd ran on, ignoring everything in their way. She sighed, shaking her head, before turning to the east end of the pridelands, and began searching through the high grass.

-----
Meanwhile, Tivana over-excited, had gone to get a drink from the water hole. Taking each lively step, she lapped up the water at the hole, her ears back to say no harm. They then pricked up. She lifted her head to the sky, then to the outlands. Something wasn't right. Something was going to go wrong, and it must have been those shadows near the outlands.

Being curious, she walked slowly around, trying to see what it was. She couldn't see it though, so she stayed, waiting. Getting bored, she went after a bird for fun, leaping through the grass.
