Simba definatly suffered a lot both physicly and emotionally when he was just a cub. He went through a lot of pain in the space of a few days.. But after meeting Timon and Pumbaa, he lived a great life, aside from the fact he was struggling with feelings of guilt because of Mufasas death. I do however think that to a certain extent Hakuna Matata numbed that pain, and for the most part Simba enjoyed his life in the jungle.
Mufasas suffering is in my opinion almost entirely about his death. It was brutal and must have been extremly painful in all senses of the word, but I do reckon it was over quite quickly. There`s no way he could have survived that stampede for long.
When it comes to Scar... Well, I just can`t feel sorry for him. He has that "poor me"-attitude, thinking he deserved to be king and all that. From what we learn about Scar in the movie, I just don`t think he suffered that much.. But that`s just me.
Sarabi! Now there`s a lioness who suffered. Losing her mate and only cub on the same day, and having to endure her brother-in-laws terrible reign, not to mention the Hyenas and lack of food.. She`s definatly the character in TLK I feel most sorry for.
Nala too suffered pretty much the same way Sarabi did.
To sum up, I think Simba and Sarabi suffered the most, because they both had to endure emotional pain over a very long period of time.
However, I feel Sarabi suffered most of all. She had to endure the devastating grief of losing her family, and living through Scars reign while being tormented by the Hyenas and seeing her Pride suffering and starving.. Like I mentioned earlier, I think Simbas pain could be numbed by Hakuna Matata, but I see no way how Sarabis pain could have been lessened, she had no escape.
Sarabi had to endure the most emotional pain over the longest period of time in my opinion. And of course there`s pain related to hunger, etc. My vote goes to Sarabi.
