Where Exactly Are They?

Okay, well, I still don't quite understand what this area is exactly for, but I'll just follow serra20's lead and post something I found odd about two parts in TLK1. lol. ^^

First off, when Scar paw-slaps Sarabi and Simba sees him do it, where exactly is Simba at that point? >.> The camra pans upwards, as if Simba is at the very top of Pride Rock or something, but we know that's not the case, since he was trying to sneak past all the hyenas to find Sarabi, so where was he? Wasn't Scar and Sarabi on the promontory of Pride Rock during this scene? So, if the camera has to pan upwards to find Simba, is there like some odd second story to Pride Rock that no one knows about except for Simba? lol.

Okay, and the second one, not being quite as odd as the first but during the scene right before the Stampede takes place, when Shenzi, Banzai and Ed are waiting for the signal from Scar, who was down in the gorge with Cubby Simba, we suddenly see him WAY above where the hyenas are positioned, atop some ledge. Now where the heck is he and why did he have to go up even higher than where the hyenas were to give them the signal and how exactly did he get up there and again, where is THERE? lol.

I don't know. These are just dumb little things that always made me wonder whenever I saw these scenes but maybe I'm just looking too hard into the movie? What do you all think? ^^

LOL. Let's just say you are one truely devoted fan.
For your first question, I think Simba must have been standing atop some ledge on the side of Pride Rock, not on the promonotory. Pride Rock has many of those as you can see from this pic: http://www.mylionking.com/resources/sit ... ab_104.jpg. What annoys me is that nowhere in the movie does it show him climbing up there in such little time. In the scene before that, he's trying to stay as hidden as possible, and then when Sarabi gets hurt he's suddenly in plain view! I just think that's weird lol.
For your second question, Scar probably climbed up that really high rock so he could have a good view of everything and so the hyenas could see his signal. Besides, I don't think he would have liked to stay down with Simba where he could have gotten trampled.

Hehe, I suppose Simba could have made it onto one of those ledges, but it seems really farfetched in the fact that there were so many hyenas around, plus, he would have to be higher up than everyone else, which would give them more of a chance to see him, and much like you stated Amanda, he only had a few minutes to actually get to where he was, so either he moves faster than any cheetah in the Pride Lands, or he can teleport. Either way, he's one REALLY fast, sneaky lion to get past all those prying eyes. Given though, hyenas aren't the brightest creatures, right?...

As Far as the Scar one, I guess you're right, but I just don't see why he had to go so far up, when he could have just made his way around to where the hyena trio were positioned at. Maybe someone will say that it was to not spook the wildebeests, but that doesn't seem all that logical given the situation and how the hyena trio were so close to where the herd was too. So if they couldn't have detected their presence, I don't think Scar, being the clever lion that he is/was, would have had an issue with staying down wind from the herd.

lol, I'm guessing that the only reason Scar was so high up was because it made a more dramatic entrance ^.^ You're right, it doesn't make much sense to climb up all that way for no reason.

As to the Simba one though, I saw that the great majority of the hyenas are down on the plains below Pride Rock. That explains how he was able to get around Pride Rock without being disturbed, but it doesn't explain how all the hyenas made it up onto Pride Rock for when Scar introduces them later...

lol, yeah, Scar just loves the dramatic entrances, huh? Like the part when Cubby Simba and Cubby Nala are walking off screen from The Elephant Graveyard scene after Mufasa saves them. He should have his own entrance music it seems. lol. Funny how Mufasa didn't see him up there. >.>

Hmm, I suppose that's true. Still, Simba would have to have halled tail, just to get up there in time to see poor Sarabi take one for the team. <.<

true, he was a fair distance away, but Scar's talk and slap of Sarabi also took a while.

Also realize how as the movie progresses, Scar is usually above everyone else in the movie(ie: Be Prepared, Stampede scene, watching Mufasa in the stampede). However at the beginning and at the end of the movie, he was positioned at a lower spot than Simba(ie: in his cave at the beginning and when Simba appears at the top of the rocks at the end when Scar smacks Sarabi). Although these positions could have a practical purpose it could symbolize Scar's arrogance and feeling of superiority over everyone and his rise to power. At the beginning, he was at a lower position than Simba but as the movie progressed, he became a more powerful, therefore being in a higher position than everyone else.

Mike: lol, it wasn't that long I don't think. I just find it hard to believe that Simba could be that quick and still be that stealthy as not to bee seen by a single soul. lol.

Zeke: Dang Zeke, you always have such a more psychological view about these things, which I can't help but find so fascinating. lol. ^^ That is true. I always figured that Scar's reign slowly crumbled with each passing scene and the points you made really supported that fact. ^^ I think there were just a few points in the film when either the hyenas or another lion was above Scar but your point is still very valid in my opinion. ^^ Still doesn't explain Simba's unheard of speed, but great none the less! ^^

Scar just loves to go up on high places huh?

In regards to Simba on Pride Rock, at the very top, it is a bit odd how he's up there and got into high ground so quickly. It seems that lions can teleport or something lol. Anyway, Pride Rock does have some high ridge of rock jutts out. Simba can be on one of those but it's weird how he got there too quick. >.> With all of the hyenas around, one of them should have spotted him getting up there at least. Or so that's what I think lol. ^^

As for Scar on that mysterious high ledge, I guess I'll agree what some are saying that he just loves dramatic entrances lol. With the short amount of time, he got up there pretty quick for a lion. ^^

Hey Zeke that's amazing You're right. It even carries into the final scene of Scar and Simba. Scar was begging for is life, and at a very low position. Simba towered over him. And of course Simba literally 'cast down' his enemy at the end. Great analysis Zeke.
