A Word About Staff Elections

I really agree with this. If Moka's going to appoint more staff, can at least one of them be in charge of the FAA section? That place is in serious need of some moderation. As someone who goes there quite frequently to read journals and rate most of the artwork, I see/report a lot of art theft and general disregard for the rules such as tracing Disney pics. I can literally link to at least 10 different pics that break these rules.

Also, I'd like to add something related to sno's OP. PLEASE choose someone who you know is very active on MLK. By this I mean, pick someone you know is online on MLK for at least an hour or two everyday, has MSN/Skype, and can preferably be reached through their cellphones almost 24/7. The reason for this is because when a sudden spam attack hits MLK and there are no mods online, that mod can quickly be notified of the emergency and have it dealt with efficiently. This exact problem arose a week ago and it was lucky one of the members was able to contact Moka before the spammer who was posting porn could spread it to other places.

I agree on the choosing someone who's on a lot. It's important that we get one that's on most of the time, so that the people that are online during a spam attack won't have to really see it.

Personally, I'd say a candidate needs to be on more than 1-2 hours a day. Maybe that's just me, but given the recent spam attacks, I feel like we need someone who's on a lot more than that. It's been far too frustrating coming back recently and seeing the place with some sort of spam nearly every time. I think we could definitely use a reeeeeeeeally dedicated person. And judging by those nominated thus far, I think we've definitely got quite a few that could fit that bill.

I second this notion as far as the FAA is concerned and the longevity of a person being online throughout the day. The night the spamming of the photo happened I was online for perhaps 3 hours after it happened waiting for a mod to come on so I could report it. Unfortunately once 4am rolled around I had to go to bed, still no mod was online when I left.

I saw the same, it was disturbing in the upmost. I couldn't believe that was happening, but no mods were on, as you said, and it was a school night.... It was after 1 AM is it was... I normally come on about 6 PM, and there had been no mods on that whole night

Yeah I was sitting around on MSN all night too waiting. I have all the current ones in my list but it was so empty you could hear the crickets chirping.

@Amanda: the cellphone thing is a bit much to ask since its private info. I've given mine to a few members, and while my phone has mobile Internet that works for MLK, I would only give my number to a handful of other members that I know well.
