Agreed with this statement; that said, it is no secret that some members have been dissatisfied with some of the past few appointments, for a variety of reasons. The only way to curb such unrest in this case is to have the system become more of a democracy -- that way, should the appointed staff member generally fail at his or her job, the staff cannot be the only ones held accountable, since the appointment was in theory 'the greatest good for the greatest amount of people.'
There's no use in avoiding trying this option. At least now there will be far less unrest when it comes to staff appointments, which seems to have been a recurring theme over the past year-ish in some circles. And if this system doesn't work out, there's always the old one.
