Kiara smiled and looked up a the sky, the sun was shining as bright as could be. One by one Rafiki lifted the cubs in the air, showing them to all the animals who bowed in respect. Soon the celebrations were over and Kiara retired to the cave. She looked over at her cubs which she placed on the patch of zebra fur in the corner of the cave. She looked closer and realised Nguvu was taking his first little steps. "Look Kovu!" Kiara said excitedly.

Kovu looked on proudly as his son took his first steps. "Come on, Nguvu, you can do it," the king said in an encouraging tone.

Nguvu managed to walk all the way to his dad before he finally tumbled over. Kiara giggled and watched as Shia and Durba also started plodding about.

Kovu patted the cub's head with his paw. "I'm glad to have such healthy cubs," he told Kiara. He then looked at his other son and his daughter as they started to move.

'D..d..daa' Nguvu started to mumble. "Kovu, I think he's trying to speak, come on Nguvu, you can do it!" Kiara said. "Daddy" Nguvu finally said. Soon all of the cubs were meowing and trying to speak.

Kovu was so proud in this moment. He congratulated Nguvu, and then laid down to allow his cubs to come to him if they wished.

Nguvu did his best to walk to his father, walking as if on ice in his first steps of life. He looked his father in the eyes, an innocent wonder stole into his face. he tapped the jagged scar over Kovus' eye. He smiled.

Kovu looked at his son proudly. He then looked at his mate and queen. "Kiara, this is the best gift I could have ever received. I promise that I'm going to try hard to make sure that everything goes well with our family. I don't want any of them to become like Scar or my mother," he stated.

Kiara looked at her children proudly, at Kovu's words she replied "I'm sure they won't Kovu". So, as the days went by the cubs grew, and grew. It was early morning when the Pride began to stir, Kovu and Kiara were still dozing. However, the other day Kovu and Kiara promised the cubs they would take them to the highest point on Pride Rock in the morning. Just then the cubs ran in.
