Hello Folks, I now make renders of characters! And I take requests! Just tell me what character you want me to render but you must show me a picture of it first. Here are some examples below. Please tell me what you think ^^.

I've been holding onto this question for a long time... what exactly is a "render?"

I've been wondering that too. I think a render is just anything cropped from an original picture [Or that's what I though] Like a cut out. I always though these sort of things were 'Recolors' [That's what they were known as on Bebo] I dunno anymore...

But isn't that basically what the rest of us do as well, most of the time?

There are two types of renders:
The ones you are seeing in this thread are actually called recolours but commonly called renders for some reason or another(personally I never get why?), and they involve changing the look of a character to create an original character which can be used in R.P or whatever you would like.

The 2nd type of render is just to have a background removed from the image, so you are left with just the character, which is more useful for making graphics with (like Kovu in your sig)

I'm afraid that is not a render let me explain. A render is the main character of the sig and ony one character. To render means to cut out the main character from a background to make him available for use in a sig.
The other render is close to what you do. But the principal is pretty much the same that there is no background but only the characters.
In other words a render must only be characters and no background at all in the pic. Once there is one its no longer a render its a sig or avatar or wallpaper

That's what I though a render was, but I started to get unsure when KP created this thread. Thanks for clearing this up x3
