It's all about Simba becoming king he's meant to be, no matter what. So I'd say Simba is "The Lion King".

Kimba x3 Not from TLK, but it's just my opinion on it. After all, Kimba is what... I'll say 'inspired' TLK's creation.

Thats a hard question...I would say Simba is The Lion King. Mufasa was a great King but Simba was meant to be The Lion King.

Personally I always thought it was just called that because it is about lions... and kings. However in the context of the OP, I would say it was almost certainly Simba since he is the king at the end of the film, plus you will notice the title "The Lion King" is shown after we see him as a new born cub, then again when he has become a fully grown king, that and he is the main character.

Who is the Lion King? Within the TLK Universe, it must be both. It's about Simba taking his father's title of 'The Lion King.' There can't just be one. Muffy and Simba are so deeply intertwined in the story that I think it's impossible to say whcih one was the Lion King.

The TRUE and original Lion King, king of lions and the land, is most definitely Kimba, the Lion King's inspiration. He came first, he was revered, and he slowly faded away from popularity. The 'one true king' is Kimba, and Disney should really stop denying this fact.
