You seem like a very intelligent guy, er, lion. Just very, very defensive of your opinion, lol.
Actually I'm more defensive of the official facts whenever people are trying to turn their own personal theories into the official canon. If everyone just bothered to mention in their posts that Kopa's canon to them personally instead of trying to make everyone think he is officially so, I'd not speak a word on it.
I'm trying to keep the official The Lion King story alive here. After all, this is not a fanfiction site/forum. There are categories for RP and fanfiction, but the entity of this place is a discussion forum about everything The Lion King--Including the official story wherein Kopa obviously doesn't appear and how evidently the films' makers never tied him into it in any way. Those facts are part of TLK universe and should be allowed as part of the discussion instead of getting the speaker blamed of being a dream killer. I guess my point of view is that just because this forum's title is My Lion King shouldn't mean that the official movie universe should be forgotten or made less important, and I eapsecially don't think the title means we should claim our own theories to be the official TLK.
And when I'm arguing the 'I believe Kopa is canon because' contents with an intelelctual view into the movies alone, it's because what I say is my TLK. Because I like to create my TLK based on the official facts and movies alone. Because I'm interested in what the official story has to offer to me.
And atouchofgrace has a point. Simba became a father by Kiara--I don't have kids but for all I've heard, that may very easily change a person drastically because it changes their point of view of the world. They become responsible of someone ignorant, innocent and helpless. They are required to protect, teach and raise them into an adult who can survive in this world--while they also love that little one. Of course, not all parents' point of view and personality change as much if at all. But it does happen. And in Disney it did that to Tramp too.
In Simba's case there's also the fact that he desperately wanted to follow in his father's footsteps, a father's who had been very mature, great father and great king.
I think, added to Kiara's birth, this dialogue is very crucial to how Simba tried to behave more mature and resposnible:
"Simba. You have forgotten me."
"No! How could I!"
"You've forgotten who you are and so forgotten me. Look inside yourself, Simba. You are more than what you've become. You must take your place in the circle of life."
"How can I go back? I'm not who I used to be."
"Remember who you are. You are my son and the one true king."
I repeat: of course he was acting more mature than in his exile years. He's entire way of life changed, he was a Daddy's boy to the core and still looked up to him, and then Kiara made him a father.
