Question: Will The Lion King 3D also work on a Blu-ray player, but without a 3D TV? (I mean, wil it appear as a normal blu-ray film (2D), or will it not work?)
If you play a 3D Blu Ray on a non 3DTV, you just get the original HD picture. You see the 3DTV simply adds increased depth to the image resulting in the "3D effect", no 3DTV means no depth but you still get the normal high quality picture. Hope that cleared it up :)

My advice: Get the 3D version and then if you get a 3DTV in future, it is there and ready ^^ in the meantime you still get the film in high quality plus the other bonuses that will possibly come with it.

How can one make someing 2-D, into 3D? Exactly why I thought Princess and the Frog wasn't 3D, even though there's a huge fad going on in every animated movie being released since Fall '08.

Maybe it's just me but I'm not really looking forward to this at all :( Disney ruined that last DvD release of the lion king by adding the 'Morning report' song, I just hope they don't feel like they have to change anything this time.

Back to topic I think a lot of people are getting confused between 3D and CG. 3D is the effect thats supposed to make things in the movie look more like a solid object (what you have to wear the lousy glasses for) whereas CG or computer generated are things like Finding Nemo, Video Game graphics all that sort of thing.

What this looks like to me is Disney slapping a 3D effect over the movies because 3D happens to all the rage at the moment and it's an easy way to make money

Yeah I have noticed that too; 3D as a whole has really gained momentum more recently. But you can not make something 2D into 3D :P, some very expensive TVs do up-scale to 3D but the effect is not as good as something made in native 3D :)
