I don't know but I think TheRougePrince's point was that no one would start looking for him or even know to keep an eye out for him, because everyone though he was dead. "Forgotten" just isn't the right word to use if that was the point. I can't think of any one word to describe it. Best way I can think of saying it is that he was dead to the world and thus utterly alone.
