Post Approval in the OT Forum

Hi! Welcome to the Feedback forum.
Before reading anything or asking anything; please check out the FAQs. Your question might be in there. However if you want a better understanding after reading the FAQs, like if it didn't explain it good enough, then by all means ask your question.

Please read the following before posting in this forum...

In this forum you will see an Announcement, and several "sticky" topics. The announcement is the Universal Board Rules. If you are new, read this before doing anything else! The sticky topics will stay above and separated from normal user-made topics in the forum. This is because they outline important information about the board. If you see a sticky topic concerning your issue, please reply with your question or concern in the correct topic. Moderators will see your reply within these topics. Before asking your question, be sure to read the topic and its first page especially. It contains information about your issue that is valuable and may even answer your questions. If the topic does not answer your question, ask your question within the topic, not the forum. If no sticky topic concerns your issue, then you are welcome to ask your own questions by creating a new topic within the forum.

Thank you for keeping the Board Help forum organized!
@Flip: Yes, it would be annoying for new members to have to wait for their post to be approved. Plus, by the time their post gets approved, the discussion may have moved on, making their reply seem out of place.

@Snowy: The abasoove are just some of the reasons why a post queue isn't enabled everywhere, if that's what you were suggesting.
Not to sound stupid, but... what is a Abasoove?
No no no, I was only suggesting that there be a queue for new threads in the OT fictions forum only.
But it is not just the OT Fictions, there is one in every other forum at the time of writing this, I even saw one in one of the member dens once 0.0.

I dunno I just think there needs to be a way to prevent bots from even registering, what about a TLK question upon registering or something? And how are they even getting pass the image verifier?
The biggest problem with them is not even that they are advertising, but what they are advertising... Music ones are not too bad, I mean it would not even be such a problem if they were not advertising gambling, or dildos o.0.

Well, that's the problem, Flip. The bots are smart enough to get past all the spam bot countermeasures I've put in place, including a TLK question. When a bot encounters a question like that, some can even put the question into Google and grab the answer. And spam bot programmers work very hard to make them good enough to beat the reCAPTCHA and other antibot tools. And some spam bots are actually humans paid to go to forums and advertise a product.

Getting post approval set up for just topics wouldn't work because many bots make new topics and replies.

The best thing to do is for me to set up more advanced antibot tools and for members to help us by reporting spam when they see it.

Maybe, Moka, you should ban their IP's instead of just deleting them. Then they'll at least have to pay for proxies. And perhaps, there is a mod somewhere that will automatically ban IP's that are detected to be a proxy?

Well we need a way to automate the proxy-banning process I guess, then.
