I don't think it was ever implied that Nuka's death was his own fault though. I think the general consensus was that he was trying to prove to his mother that he should have been The Chosen One, not Kovu and his death was just a tragic turn of events.
I think the story would've been more interesting if Vitani had died.
Don't get me wrong. She's a cool character.
But then if Vitani died the outlander might not have joined the pride landers cause shes the one that goes "no mother enough's enough" or something like that
I agree. If Vitani had died in the film, not only does that make the creators just drop out the characters because they weren't shaping up well (a common affair in role-play), but, as Iluvnala mentioned, she wouldn't have joined the Pridelanders. In the movie, we all know that Vitani is loyal to her mother and would normally never stray from her laws and orders. When she rebelled against her own mother, it showed courage that she had been raised all her life to follow Zira's laws (as everybody in the pride knows), but still rose up against her. This also gave the Outlanders a chance to show how they really felt about Zira and their defiance against her.

When I think about it, he wasn't even really that bad.
