Early CYFTLT vs final CYFTLT

The alternate version was cut because the music didn't follow the african theme and they wanted Timon and Pumbaa in the song somehow.
But what do you think about the scene itself? Do you like it better than the final one?

I think this early version is very nice, my favourite parts are Simba and Nalas solo lyrics and the last moments where they`re walking behind the waterfall.

But I prefer the final version. I think the final lyrics are better overall. This early version reminds me too much of the Elton John version, and I really prefer the movie version.

oh yeah, i saw this version before, isn't bad, but the fact that Timon and Pumbaa singing most of the song? nah, I don't think so, I like the final version of CYFTLT

Its not that bad actually. Looks like they incorporated a lot of ideas from that first take into the final version. Everything from Simba pulling Nala into the water to them cartwheeling down the hill was present in the early storyboard. You could basically call it an extended version.

I don't see why they cut it because of the music... Couldn't they simply have incorporated new music that had the African theme?

Lots of decisions behind this whole CYFTLT sequence:
- Timon and Pumba were first to sing the entire song
- Tim Rice wrote 16 or 17 different versions and they ended up using the first
- The movie first didn't even include CYFTLT and it was Elton John who suggested putting it back in

All in all, CYFTLT is my favorite song and scene from the movie. I'm glad it came out the way it did.

Timon and Pumbaa didn`t sing at all in the early version. They don`t even appear..

(That is a plus for me, lol)

Eh...I really don't care for it:
-Intro is nice but goes on way too long (almost a minute.)
-Still sounds like a demo (probably is )
-Sounds more like something that would be released as a contemporary pop song (like the Peabo Bryson versions of Beauty and the Beast and A Whole New World.)
-The key really doesn't suit the song.

I really love the lyrics in this version, especially Simba's verse, though I'd like for Simba and Nala to swap verses Nala is being all flirty with Simba, then she wanders off and her lyrics are about how she must go and how she doesn't want to know him? What? xP In my mind it'd make a lot more sense for Simba to sing that.

And I agree that the intro is much too long. It's a very long sequence of just... "silence". I love the waterfall at the very end though. They could've cut out Timon and Pumbaa's final bit, kept the waterfall and made it a stunning finishing shot <3 But then again... I suppose you'd then need a short scene with another character to be able to cut into Simba and Nala's argument scene later and what would happen in that one...?

Bah, alright, the original version is much, much better than this one To use this early version I think you'd need to make too many changes to the scenes around it. These lyrics really are wonderful though.
