Not to be mean but Kopa sure gets a lot of attention even though he's just a book character.
Were the books even released outside of the USA?
Because in my country, unless you're a really die-hard TLK fan, you don't even know about him and TLK is very popular here, trust me. It was huge when it came out because it was the first Disney movie dubbed in European Portuguese and famous portuguese actors provided the voices.
I don't know a single TLK portuguese fan who knows Kopa. Even my sister who is a Disney nut didn't know who he was.
No, they were released only in USA. And as far as I know, there was never even a re-print? I've been a fan since 1995 and quite active and intereeted most of the time and still heard of Kopa not before last year, and all thanks to internet and all the "Zira killed Kopa" theories that are nonsense to me. And I don't know but if they were released more widely, I think Disney would've made a bigger deal about Kopa. But he's never even mentioned anywhere outside those books.

Can we stop fussing about Kopa getting a lot of attention? There's nothing offensive about him omg, people are acting like he's got rabies. :madman:

I thought atouchofgrace's point was that it's a wonder how much attention and popularity he's got seeing to how unknown and unessential in the franchise he is. I think that's actually quite interesting point to make.

Wow, never released outside of the USA? That's depressing. I would love to have those books :3 How did I find out about Kopa, I can't remember... I think I was going through a TLK phase a around 2 years ago and just found out about him :/ He doesn't seem that popular. I'd only imagine only true TLK fans to know about him, and maybe kids who got the books when they were younger...

^^ I remember seeing his name randomly... "Zira killed Kopa", "Kopa is Simba's son" and was like "Who's Kopa?".
At first I thought he was some fanfiction character like Tanabi. Same thing with "Ahadi" and "Tojo" and all those characters.

I know! I was on YouTube and I saw a video called "TLK4; The Return of Kopa" and at first I thought Kopa was some made up character. Then I looked into it and found he was real. It was the same with Ahadi and Uru too.

Rabies? Come on. People are acting like he's the best character ever, and yet he has no personality. That is my reason for not understanding why there's such a big deal about him.
