We see the fairies together before they move in with the princess, just like we see the hyenas together before they share a scene with Scar.

I've always thought that they're friends, I'm not sure why. However, I remember one book that claimed that they were siblings, but I've only seen the text in Finnish so...

I`ve always thought they`re just friends.. Shenzi and Banzai could of course be mates, and Ed is just a tag-along.. Or they could be siblings. I`ve never really thought about it much.

lol Yeah. The way I see it, nothing in the movie implies anything about the relationship between the Hyenas, wether they`re family or friends.

The three are actually siblings. In the TLK book of Mufasa and Taka growing up he met them and one hyena came to rescue them from Ahadi, saying all three were her pups.
