I think he is not movie canon only canon in the full TLK universe. This makes any theory about Kopa being "killed" by Disney untrue. It just makes it easier for me, anyway. I think the theory of Zira killing Kopa, etc. works, but it was never planned by Disney, so therefore it is inconcievable.
Kopa was planned by another part of Disney, and is never in the movies, no matter how much people want him to be. The thought of him being the cub at the end makes perfect sense, but sadly, it is not true.

Yes, but the storys passed through disney. So they let the people who wrote the books kill off Kopa, and the proceeded to sell them, eigther way. And I think Kopa is canon, because he is just as equally important within the TLKfanbase as any other character, so can't we all just agree to disagree?

For me:
Canon = TLK (including original characters and events)

Not canon = SP (including new characters, the way the original characters are portrayed and events) / TLK 1 1/2 (including new characters, the way the original characters are portrayed and events), T&P (including new characters, the way the original characters are portrayed and events), TLKoB (including the way the original characters are portrayed and events)

Not canon = SNA, fanfiction, fan theories (including new characters, the way the original characters are portrayed and events)

Y'all should mellow out and just enjoy the movies and/or books
I don't visit MLK as much as I used to, but I swear, this is the ONLY thing I've seen discussed over the past week or so. It's getting way old.

Because some people have the mistaken opinion that if a character appears in the books but not the films, it is not canon. Canon by definition refers to Lion King characters so... allegations that non-film characters are false. People who say characters like Kopa are not canon are mistaken, or just have such hatred for the books' differences from the films that they cannot accept the book-only characters' canon status.
