Re: [PRIVATE] A Loner's Pride

Wafu's expresion dropped back to it's blank state. 'Oh come on, he doesn't even care' Wafu thought to himself, he know how these plans worked out and was experienced enough to tell that trying again would all be a vain. He'd have to find a better way of breaking the pride up and picking them off one by one, or better yet just sit back, wait for Chanya's plan and kill whatever she points at. Deciding to leave planing for anther Day Wafu look at Syira and shrugged,
"I don't know, I'm not really experienced in these things" Wafu said and took a closer look even sniffing Syira to see if he could fin the problem.
"Maybe she's just tired" he said to Dakari all the while keeping his blank expression. Usually he wouldn't care but he had to gain the trust of everyone possible.

Dakari sat up, looking closely at Syira, "I don't think so... I'm pretty sure it has something to do with that wound she has... he said, and shrugged, "Ah, what the heck... I did what I could, it's up to her now." he then felt bored, "So, where are you from?" might as well get to know his new pride members.

Wafu took a few seconds to answer, partly because he was debating whether or not to actually talk to this lion and partly because he was trying to remember the name of where he came from.
"That way" was his not too serious answer as he pointed in a random direction.
"But honestly I can't remember, I left as a cub and haven't bothered to keep that place in my memories" he sighed now remembering some of his past that he really didn't want to. Most of the time Wafu could care less but since meeting his 'father' and Chanya his memories where more energetic that usual.

Dakari nodded. "I can totaly understand if you don't want to talk about it." he said, looking at the rain outside, it seemed to be getting heavier. "My past was also a... long story, filled with sighs..." he never told it to anyone, but if someone insisted then he probably would have told him. "Anyways... I guess everybody has it rough at some point of their lives." he added and looked at Syira, "Do you know her name?"

It didn't even seem like that long before all of a sudden the two lions came behind Chanya and saw the same thing that she was seeing. Zera looked at both of them, back and forth, trying to find some kind of calmness in the situation. She knew what it looked like, but she couldn't very well tell them that it wasn't the way it looked at all. From what she had assumed Taro and Eeve had seen, there was no falter in her mind that there was speculation on what Sius and Zera really were to each other. Zera knew the answer, and she was sure that Sius did as well from what just happened, but even she was drawing a blank of what to say. It was so obvious though, tell them the truth. Sius and I are just friends. That's all he ever was, and that's all he'll ever be. But nothing was coming out of her mouth. If only these were a bunch of mind-readers, but that probably wouldn't bode well for her when it came to how she thought of Taro.

She had been silent for a while, and it was probably starting to make Eeve want to rip her throat apart. She doubted Eeve could, but she still knew something about that lioness when it came to feelings. Disgusting, troublesome feelings. Sure enough, out sprang a growl from Eeve, and though Zera wasn't trying to start anything she snarled back lightly to warn Eeve that even though she was mad, that was no way to behave. When she started receiving glares from her and Chanya, she knew she had really gotten herself into deep hyena poop. I can't even have a friend without something going wrong. Why does there have to be so much drama? Her eyes were drifting from one body to the next until she heard Taro spoke. His smooth and attractive voice was just as handsome as himself, and he seemed to believe in more than what appearances had on a situation-- unlike Eeve, who probably would have gotten into a fight with Zera by now if he wasn't by her side.

But now she was faced with telling the truth-- something she was good at, and also had complications with, especially when it came to talks about emotions. Her emotions towards Sius were he was the best friend she had had in a while, and her emotions with Taro were he was someone who made her feel like she was on Cloud 9. Shouldn't the feelings for Taro outweigh the ones for her keeping quiet? She could have a real shot at having a mate who would stick around for a long time if she played her cards right. She looked at Chanya, who was mimicing Eeve's angry positioning and facial features, and then at the leader of the fit of rage. She felt her temper cracking and cracking all while she looked at the two opposing lionesses and didn't say anything. Finally, something in her broke and she had the words come into a line better than she had thought she would. "Because he's not looking for drama all the time" she replied. She started to walk away before she looked down at Chanya, "and I can actually stand him". With that, she pushed past Chanya not too forcefully and made her way back to the den.

Upon re-entering the den, she saw both males that she had yet to come and trust all around Syira's passed out body. Due still to her lack of patience and understanding of where these two males were coming from and why they were here, she let out a mild few growls through her teeth before eying them and laying herself beside Syira. You're the only one who I seem to be able to stay with and not feel like I want to clock you right now, thought Zera while she closed her eyes and placed her head on Syira's shoulder. Mostly only because she was passed out and unable to say anything, Zera still took some comfort in Syira being in the pride with her. Though she needed some protecting right now and there was no where for Zera to really go where she could feel like she was needed or wanted. This was turning out, for her, to be a chance at something good but somehow it was turning out badly at the same time.

-----

Zera walked past Chanya with a light nudge to get the smaller lioness to move and walk past the three of them. There, Sius was left in front of the three, while Chanya watched the taller lioness leave with her temper no doubt steaming and making its way down to boil over her heart strings. Of course, Chanya played it up and presented herself as thrown back more than lightly pushed. Into Taro's body she was 'thrown back' and she didn't move from him. "Ouch!" She closed her eyes and pinned them back like there was more pain and damage done to her body. She looked up at Taro before she nuzzled into him, "I don't know why she doesn't like me; I haven't done anything wrong".

Sius backed away from Eeve. Her eyes had a certain kind of fire. Fire as orange as her eyes. Her claws were drawn and her teeth shone through the rain. She came even closer to Sius and Zera. If Taro hadn't have put himself in-between the three lions, there's no telling what Eeve would have done to Zera. Sius had never seen her like this. He would never have thought her to be this kind of lioness. She had been hurt bad from his mistake. And Zera obviously wasn't going to say anything. He had given her ample time to save their tails. But silence rang in the air as Taro's statement hung in their ears.

Sius figured he would wait just a bit longer to see what Zera was concocting in her brilliant mind. But the answer she had come up with was far from brilliant. And then she just left the scene, abandoning Sius with a mildly suspicious lion, and two lionesses hellbent on tearing him to shreds. If Taro wasn't there, Sius would probably be pinned down in a two on one fight to the death. All because of jealousy and envy. Sius looked at Taro for a moment. Almost communicating with him without saying a word. You don't think I did this on purpose, do you? He communicated his thoughts as clearly as he could with his facial expressions. He could only hope that Taro would understand. His attention shifted back to Eeve. Tears still pouring down her muzzle. Sius had to say something. He couldn't let things go sour this soon.

"Eeve. Please listen to me. I'm so sorry." That sounds like a good start. At least it'll buy me some time before she pummels me. Sius exchanged a glance with Taro before thinking of what to say next. I could apologize for being stupid... no... no she doesn't want to hear that. What if I compliment her beauty... but she'll think I'm stalling. What if I just come straight out and tell her... No, she'll never believe me. Sius' brain racked trying to think of something to say. He couldn't just leave the conversation at 'I'm sorry'. Oh, how he wished Zera had stayed there to help him out of this ditch he was digging for himself.

At one point, he even smacked himself on the side of his head trying to think of the proper explanation for what was going on. Finally, it happened, his mind hadn't come up with a good thing to say, but he couldn't stall any longer. Sius started approaching the three lions. Chanya seemed to be talking to Taro. Something about Zera not liking her. Sius didn't care. His mind was on other things. Actually, his mind was on one lioness. His heart knew what it wanted. And as he came within four feet of the heartbroken animal, Sius looked down at the ground. He was ashamed of what he had done. If only he could get Eeve to see how his heart felt. He then looked up directly into Eeve's tear-stained orange eyes. His blood-red eyes were also starting to collect water. But he couldn't let the tears flow just yet. He had to be strong. "Eeve... I'm sorry. I know what it looks like... But you've got to believe me. Sius came even closer, completely aware that Eeve could strike him at any time. A risk he was willing to take. "I would never... ever... hurt you."

"To be honest I don't know the names of anyone really" Wafu said. After-all he had spent most of his time just near the pride rather then actually getting involved in it. When Zera walked in Wafu became a bit cautious due to there being another in the cave and also because he knew that most of the lions in this pride did not really trust him. He just managed to hold back a snarl and Zera made mild growl but Wafu settled for just baring his teeth.
"The king said I could stay, I don't see why you lionesses still want to growl or shout at me" Wafu said with a look of annoyance and anger mixed together but it then melted into a look of fake sadness. Wafu could act better but he purposely made the sorrowful look seem fake.
"But I guess if I'm not wanted I could go sleep in the cold, wet land outside" he said with a tone of sorrow sarcasm as he slowly walked to the entrance of the cave not in any real rush.

Taro's jaw dropped and he felt as if his heart had just shattered to pieces. After allowing Zera his trust, after giving her the chance to get out of this situation...she had just taken it all and thrown it back at him. 'The only lion she could stand'? Did that mean that she hated Taro? Did that mean that she couldn't stand his presence?

A choking sound came from within his throat and chest and he nearly collapsed. He felt crushed, split open, betrayed. What did anything matter now? What was the purpose of remaining here and trying to make friends when they'd just betray him in the end? And what was the purpose of falling in love? Because now, now that Zera had pierced his heart with her vicious words, he realized that he'd quickly fallen for her. For her beautiful face and strong personality. For her intelligence and wit. For her willful traits and her lovely, strong body. Tears came to his emerald eyes, but they didn't fall. How could she do this to him?

Meanwhile, it took Eeve's every bit of self-restraint to not lunge at Zera and rip her apart. She'd stolen Sius, broken her best friend's heart, betrayed them. Maybe it would be enough for Zera to live with the look on Taro's face at her words...the guilt she should feel at her betrayal. Her mandarin eyes narrowed as the dark-furred lioness passed, a deep growl in her throat.

"Don't you ever come near him again," she hissed quietly. Her words were loaded with the threat of force if she did not comply.

Taro didn't really notice when Sius had come forward because of his numb and disbelieving state. But then, the lion began talking and brought Taro's attention to him. Sius seemed to be directing his words to Eeve, who had stopped growling, but was still glaring. Sius's words seemed to cause conflict in her heart, judging by the look on her face.

Red suddenly filled Taro's vision. Extracting himself from Chanya, who had fallen into him when Zera'd shoved her, he crouched low and began to walk menacingly towards Sius. The normally gentle lion was now in an inescapable rage, and his fury rolled off of him in waves. Sius...Sius was the one who had stolen his Zera. Sius was the enemy... Without a sound or a warning, Taro leapt, deadly silent. But...

Whump! Before the golden lion could get to Sius, his jump had been interrupted by another body upon him. He roared and struck out, his claws unsheathed, and hit something solid. A feminine yelp was audible, and the mass upon his body was lifted. Taro scrambled up to see who he'd hit.

It was Eeve. She was clutching her face and letting out soft gasps of pain, and blood trickled from between her paw toes and onto the ground. Taro's anger immediately melted as he looked on in horror.

No...what have I done...?

She dropped her paw and looked up at her friend, her left eye shut. There were three fresh cuts across her fact. Three cuts that would most likely scar forever. Taro gasped, his jaw open in shock.

"Taro...don't. I...I love him," she whispered, wincing in pain. "I...don't know why. I still love him. But... I can't...I can't be with you," she said, turning to Sius now. "I don't believe you. I'm sorry..." her anger had faded into sadness and heartbreak. She looked at her friend once more, with new eyes. Who knew that Taro could be violent? And now, after his first fit of rage ever in his life, she'd been the victim.

Taro felt lower than dirt.

Sius said his words from the bottom of his heart. How could he make someone believe what he knew was true? Simple; he couldn't. Eeve's mind would hide what her heart wanted to believe. The chances of her actually believing Sius were slim to none. But his words still hung in the air. He could only hope that he was wrong and that Eeve was more understanding than he was giving her credit for.

Without warning, Taro sprang at Sius. When did he even move? He was too close for Sius to react to properly, so he merely covered his muzzle as best he could. Why was Taro attacking him?! He'd done nothing wrong to Taro. Unless... unless Taro liked Zera. And that put a huge target on Sius' head. He braced himself for the attack but felt nothing. Perhaps he was dead? That's it, the blow had killed him and now he was in heaven. Where he didn't have to deal with feelings of love, jealousy, or envy ever again. He would live the rest of his life in silent solitude. How he should have spent ALL of his life. This, of course, was not the case.

Sius' eye creaked open after hearing various sounds; a bump, a slice, a shriek... a shriek? Sius jumped out of his defensive shell and ran over to Eeve. She had been hurt badly by Taro. Three cuts along her face. And the culprit... was Taro. Sius spread his paws. Once again ready to use a secret hunting technique that would no doubt leave Taro regretting what he'd done. But then... what would that prove to Eeve? That Sius could be even more violent. That's like saying 'Hey Eeve, now that you're scarred for life, watch me kill your best friend.' It wouldn't end well. Sius put himself back into his lazily built position and turned to Eeve. He wanted to ask if she was OK, but she looked like she was about to say something. Sius would let her talk.

Sius couldn't believe what he was hearing. So he was right. She loved him as well. His heart soared with joy. Perhaps there was hope after all. But as Eeve continued... Sius' heart sank back down to place... and then even lower. I knew it. This is what I get for trying to be in love Sius thought to himself. He'd known that love was not for him... but maybe if he could just find the one female for him. Then he could blow it up right in his face. His heart had crumbled, and he knew that he wasn't the only one. Meeting and having hearts broken on the same day was not Sius' ideal relationship. "Fine... I see how it is. Sius said, trying to hide all emotion from view of others. Though he couldn't keep the high pitched sound of sadness from escaping his mouth. "Then, uh... I guess... I guess I'll just be g-going... Sius started heading back to the den. Whether or not Taro and Eeve would follow was completely up to them. Sius didn't care if Chanya followed or not. The only thing he cared about now was his brother. He had tried to care for others, and look where that had gotten him.

His mind was made up. After his brother was safe, he would make Taro the king and leave... forever.

The focus could have no longer been on Chanya as there was an injured Eeve, a heart broken Taro, a shocked and depressed Sius, and above all an unwanted Zera. It was working out better than the dark rogue had thought it would have and for that she felt like she was pure evil and a genius. Seeing the others in pain...it made her smile. Now where to go? Make her way over to Eeve and comfort her in her pathetic time of need, follow after Sius and convince him to just leave, or make a move on the pained Taro so he could warm up to her and drive Zera up the wall? Or, Zera. Zera was the one who was most likely so close to leaving at this point that she could say the tiniest thing and it would no doubt send the lioness packing. With an evil smile she turned herself around and headed back to the den, seeing Sius along the way but she passed him. And there she found her, Zera laying with Syira and already looking like she was moments away from going after someone from her unhappiness. Things sure weren't going anyones' way...it felt good to Chanya.

Waltzing over with a sunken head and sad look in her eyes Chanya looked down at the rogue lioness, "Zera?" It was predicted that Zera's head lazily looked up at Chanya for a moment before disregarding her as being there and putting her head back down on the comfortable shoulder of Syira. "I know I'm not the one you want to talk to right now, but...I-I'm sorry things turned out this way". She wasn't sorry. She wasn't, and Zera obviously knew that though she said nothing. All she could really do was just take in the fake words of the lioness behind her and keep her mouth shut as it had already seemed to get her into enough trouble. When nothing was said by her, Chanya moved in closer to her. "Zera?"

"Please, Chanya," she closed her eyes and sighed, "just leave me be". But Chanya had no intention of doing anything like that.

"Okay...I suppose I should see if Sius is okay--" she was cut off by Zera getting up and running out of the cave to see to her best friend. Sure enough there he was, walking through the rain and mud with a troubled expression that she could only follow but never mimic to anyone around her.

"Sius? Are you alright?" What kind of a question was that? Of course he wasn't, but what else could she ask to make it sound like she wanted to make sure he wasn't completely torn and yet she wasn't trying to pry, but didn't sound completely childish and stupid? But she shook her head and somehow found the words, "do you need to talk?" Do you want me to stay? I was the one who caused all of this, so you probably dislike me more than anyone at the moment. She waited for his reply, never once taking her eyes off of his and to whether or not he would give her a reply, she waited patiently, but not so eager as she would have looked as if she were hearing something from Taro.

Taro... he probably didn't want to have anything to do with Zera any longer, if he ever did in the first place. And Eeve... she had given Zera instructions not to come to Taro at all, but like Zera was ever going to listen to that sack of emotions? She would only listen to Taro's requests, as he was the only one who could control who was around him and who he let in-- which meant he was probably going to be closed off to Zera all the time from now on. And it saddened her to think that maybe she was getting to the end of the line of their patience. She didn't doubt she was a good lioness and that she had something to offer a male who would have her and vice versa, but that was becoming difficult these days.
