I didn't recognize the name at first either, but it turns out that he is a comic character -- one of the gorillas from "Dry Season" (and one of the approximately 27 gorillas Simba gets into trouble with in the comics).

Er...I was exaggerating. Simba gets into trouble with a lot of gorillas in the comics (plus one in the TLK game), but not as many as 27.
